After the players return to their club from international duty, Manchester City will host Frank Lampard’s Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium. Both teams have high ambitions this season. The Citizens are aiming to retain their championship from fierce competitors Liverpool. Chelsea are looking for a place in the top four to qualify for the Champions League. With both teams looking for the win, we take a look at the Manchester City vs Chelsea betting preview.

Currently, Manchester City is in second place; six-points behind last year’s runner-up, Liverpool. The two will meet this weekend to battle it out for the first time this season, but after the game, Pep Guardiola will need to concentrate on Chelsea, which will be no easy task either.

Manchester City vs Chelsea Betting Preview Heavily Favors the Hosts

Interestingly enough, despite losing to Chelsea last season away from home, Unibet Sportsbook gives the hosts betting odds of 1.33. Should Manchester City prevail at the Etihad, they will certainly keep the race for the title in the competition.

These odds are relatively low, considering the Sky Blues will be playing against a top-four side. Pep Guardiola has put his trust in his side and especially in the club’s all-time top scorer, Sergio Aguero.

Aguero is currently on 9 goals in his 10 matches in the league this season. If you think he will bag another goal against Chelsea, his betting odds are 1.79 to score at any time and 4.25 to be the first scorer in the game.

Chelsea’s Chances

Chelsea, on the other hand, have also had a good couple of weeks. Frank Lampard had a tough start to the season with a 4-0 spanking by rivals Manchester United. However, he has settled in eventually and has seen his team win 5 in a row in the Premier League.

The Blues are currently in fourth place on level points with Leicester City. They are 6 points clear of fifth-placed Arsenal. Despite their good performances, Chelsea are given betting odds of 9.00, which are not bad odds for a decent team.

Just like Aguero, Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has also scored 9 goals so far this season. Could we see the young Englishman get another one to take him to double figures for odds 3.50? Alternatively, the odds for Abraham to score a brace at the Etihad are 19.00 at online sportsbook sites in the UK.

At the end of the day, the Manchester City vs Chelsea betting preview tells us that a draw could be on the cards as well for the high odds of 5.50. One can assume that Manchester City will dominate possession, as they tend to do so well. That would leave the Pensioners with the opportunity to defend deep and hit them with pace-players – such as Mount, Abraham and Pulisic – on the counterattack.

If you believe that both teams are good enough to score a goal, the betting odds of 1.72 are there for the taking. If you would like to know more about our betting site, check out our latest review about Unibet Sportsbook.
