Major Sporting Events in 2022 – Part 2

The second half of 2022 will also bring lots of great tournaments and championships from the Tour de France to the World Athletics Championships. Football fans can follow the Women’s Euros in July. While one of the biggest major sporting events in 2022, the 2022 FIFA World Cup will begin only in November. Great tennis, golf, and rugby tournaments are also appearing in the calendar along with Eurobasket 2022. 

In the summer of 2022, one of the biggest sporting events will be the Women’s Football European Championship held in the UK. Following the 2020 Euros final the Three Lionesses will try to get an even better result and win their first title. But it won’t be an easy job even on home soil against teams like the Netherlands, Sweden, and Germany. A quite new event, the so-called European Championships will take place in the summer in Munich. With some of the best athletes competing for the gold medal in nine different sports from athletics to table tennis. The best European men’s basketball teams will also appear in Germany during the Eurobasket 2022. The most anticipated event of the year, the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will start on the 20th of November. Giving a really nice present for all football fans ahead of Christmas. 

Summer Tournaments Also Feature in Major Sporting Events in 2022 

The focus will be on the UK in July after having so many big sporting events in the country. Starting with the British Grand Prix on the 3rd of July and followed by the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 between 6 – 31 July. The city hosts the biggest event in Germany since the 1972 Olympics. The second edition of the European Championships will feature nine Olympic sports from athletics to triathlon across 10 days. Another tournament from the major sporting events in 2022, the Eurobasket 2022 is also held in the country with co-hosts the Czech Republic, Georgia, and Italy. But the final will be held in Berlin on the 18th of September. The Vuelta a Espana and the US Open are also happening in August just like the PGA Championships. So we won’t be without great sporting events this summer either. 

Rugby World Cups and FIFA World Cup at the End Of The Year

Rugby fans can follow two great events in October thanks to the postponed 2021 Rugby League World Cup and the 2021 Women’s  Rugby Union World Cup from New Zealand. Where we might see the reigning champions, France again. But Brazil, England, Spain, Argentina, and Germany can also win the trophy. At the end of the year, winter sports can get into focus again along with the Premier League which will resume on the 26th of December.
