Spanish gamblers and visitors are welcome to check out the two brand new casinos opened in the centre of Madrid.
The Casino Gran Madrid has been present in Torrelodones since 1981. But now the owners of the venue have opened a new branch on Paseo de Recoletos: Casino Gran Madrid –Colón. Hosted in a newly-renovated building of great architectural value, the venue is home to a 4,000 suqare-meter casino floor, as well as complementary facilities such as a café and restaurant.
Owned by Casino de Aranjuez, El Casino Gran Vía is located in an iconic three-storey building from 1924, which has been declared historical heritage. According to local gambling news, the venue includes a traditional Basque haute cuisine restaurant, as well as a champagne bar.
Online slots become legal
Earlier this year, local authorities have announced they were changing Spanish gambling laws to allow online operators to add slots games to their portfolio of casino games. Internet casinos have been legal for a few years, with the exception of slots.
But after two years of debating the issue, officials have finally drawn up and approved new regulations to add virtual slots and exchange betting to the current offer. The regulatory body is receiving applications from online slots operators, and the new games should be available starting January 2015.
