Ladbrokes leads the field in terms of football betting, yet Bet365 performs better at live betting.
A recent report from GamblingData – In-Play Tracker (IPT) survey – revealed interesting figures. Ladbrokes sportsbook, operating in full compliance with British gambling laws, is the leading betting operator when it comes to wagers on football.
The report focused on the Q2 2012 and discovered that during the 10-minute wagering periods of the 14-day study Ladbrokes was the best among online sportsbooks in United Kingdom with 310 football matches, taking the first spot from Be365 with 307 matches.
The GamblingData survey was carried out from Feb 25 to Mar 10, and took into consideration the live betting offers from 8 leading outlets where punters can bet on sports in United Kingdom.
Bet365, however, leads the total sporting events wagering across nineteen sports. Ladbrokes was second in absolute terms with betting on 16 sports, Paddy Power and Sportingbet came in third with twelve sports each. All eight sportsbooks accepted bets on 22 types of sport during the survey period.
If we look at the big picture Bet365 leads the way with 608 total events covered by bets, Ladbrokes again second with 410 and Paddy Power third with 390. The only three sports covered by offers from all sportsbooks were tennis, football and basketball. Odd apples covered by at least one betting shop were ski jumping, water polo and bandy.
Football made up over sixty seven percent of all events across every sportsbook in the survey. Tennis came second with twelve percent.
This time around GamblingData utilized new IPT Activity Index in the survey, which allows us to see data during both peak and off-peak wagering periods. Based on this Bet365 was a clearer leader in off-peak time than during hot betting hours. Both Ladbrokes and Bwin performed better during the peak times.
