  • There are only 4 rounds left from the 2020-21 La Liga season
  • Three top team, Atletico, Real and Barcelona are within two points of each other
  • Barcelona will host Atletico, Real play against Sevilla this weekend

There are only four rounds left from this season’s La Liga, but still any of the three top teams can win the title. At the moment Atletico Madrid lead two points ahead of Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. But Simeone’s side will meet the Catalans this weekend, while Real will host Sevilla on Sunday. Crucial games for all the teams, with the winners making a huge step towards winning the title. Let’s see who leads the odds in the La Liga title race predictions at the moment.

It has been a very unusual season in La Liga after none of the two giant clubs, neither Real Madrid nor FC Barcelona started the season too well. Unlike Atletico Madrid who have been leading the league since November. But in 2021 Simeone’s team started to stumble too and suffered unexpected defeats and draws. After both Real and Barca have found a much better form, the situation is very tight. There are only two points between the top three teams, while Sevilla follow them with another four points behind. Their title win seems unlikely now, but Julien Lopetegui’s team can play a very important role in the title race. As they will play against the defending champions in the next round.

Since Ronald Koeman has become the manager of Barcelona, there have been huge changes at the club. Iconic players like Luis Suarez and Ivan Rakitic left the team while several young players joined the starting eleven. And in spite of the first struggles and the whole Messi-saga, the team is in third place now, only two points behind the leaders. What’s more, Koeman also won his first trophy with the club after defeating Athletic Bilbao in the 2021 Copa del Rey final. Barca and Messi seem to be in their top form again, but they need to concentrate on the last four games in order to win the title. They still favored to do so by online sportsbooks in Spain with the odds of 2.50.

Their next game will be especially difficult against Atletico Madrid. The club hasn’t won the title since 2014, but has a big chance now to get the trophy. And the odds of 2.62 in the La Liga title race predictions. As Simeone’s side is still leading La Liga even though their performance has declined in the last few weeks. But with a good result against Barcelona, they can keep their lead or even increase it. Luis Suarez can be a key player in that if he can score against his former club. While their solid defense with one of the best goalkeepers of the world, Jan Oblak can stop the attempts of the home team. Still, Barcelona are favored to win at Nou Camp with the odds of 1.80.

Can Real win the title?

Real Madrid are the defending champions but in the beginning of  this season they didn’t play like that. The team lost against Cadiz and Alaves at home, while they were also knocked out by third-tier team Alcoyano in the Spanish Cup. But they improved a lot in the second half of the season and still have a chance to defend their La Liga title.  And the odds of 3.30 to do that. Zidane’s team has also reached the semi-finals in the Champions League. But their engagement in the UCL can have a negative impact on their performance in the domestic league. With players having to play more than their rivals, we shall see how they can cope with tiredness.

This weekend Real will host Sevilla first in another important game. Online gambling sites in Spain expect a tight match and offer the odds of 1.95 for the Blancos’ win. Karim Benzema is having a superb season and can score again. Without the French striker and his 21 goals Real wouldn’t be in second place for sure. Casemiro, Varane, Modric and Kroos have been playing well most of the season. Just like the younger players like Vinicius Junior and Marco Asensio. But Real shouldn’t underestimate Sevilla who had a great run this year until their sudden defeat against Bilbao. Lopetegui’s team haven’t lost all their chances to become champions but they would really need a win against Real to keep them. Their odds to get that is 3.60 on bet365.
