Confucius once said “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves” and this week a man in Kenyan casino proved him absolutely right.

• Two dead in sword attack
• Gambler refused loan
• Crowd kills murderer
There has been a steady rise in the number of people who bet on sports in Kenya, at sites very much like Bet365, and casino gambling has also become increasingly popular with revenues now estimated up some 6% to $20m according to Pricewaterhouse Coopers, however with this growing success there has been at least one instance of tragedy.
A Kenyan casino gambler in Nairobi, John Barnabas Mchanga, reputedly from Tanzania himself, lost his temper when refused an advance at the tables of the City View Bar & Restaurant Casino in the Eastleigh district. He needed the advance to try and recoup the losses of $300 or so he’d already racked up.

The sore loser then left the establishment briefly only to return with a bladed weapon slashing at, and killing, both the casino’s female manager (who had refused the loan) and one of their security staff, leaving a third guard being treated in hospital in what has been described as “serious condition”.
If you’re Kenyan gambling laws of self preservation would have seen everyone flee in panic, you’d only be half right, for it was at this point that his fellow gamblers in the Kenyan casino took umbrage with his behavior. As panic did ensue amongst many present, a large number of them gave chase to the murderer. They caught up with him in a nearby street.
“By the time our officers arrived,” said Nairobi police chief Japheth Koome, “they found him dead.” Adding that “The information that we have is that he first attacked a female manager who declined to lend him money to continue gambling, and that is when he went out to fetch a sword.”
An investigation has been launched to ascertain the precise details of the night’s events in and around this popular Kenyan casino.
