Football betting and lotteries reach Peruvian fingertips through Android.
Scores of sites and mobile offers have been launched to entertain the local gaming public, ever since Peruvian gambling laws legalized online games of chance in 2008.
The latest such offer comes from the local subsidiary of Greek lottery giant Intralot, in the form of an Android application. The app allows domestic gamblers to play the local lottery, as well as to bet on sports in Peru.
Intralot de Peru’s has released four of its titles on mobile so far: the Tinka Megabol and Gana Diario lotteries, as well as the Te Apuesto and Ganagol football betting games.
Even though the country’s gambling has been very much liberalized for the past 5 years, it is still far from being saturated. In fact, as more and more people buy smartphones, the mobile betting segment is demonstrating continued growth.
“Intralot takes another step ahead, in order to provide the highest level of service and convenience to its customers in Peru. With this new offering Intralot de Peru clearly shows its commitment to always respond to the current market needs and the players’s new habits and preferences,” said the company’s Virtual Channel Manager, Milena Chavez Maggi.
“We have started the development of our website and the E-commerce with the launch of our mobile web version and now we have developed a native application for Android that is attractive, functional and very user – friendly. With these platforms we provide to our customers easy access to our products with the highest level of security, always complying with the highest international standards,” added Ms. Chavez Maggi.
Intralot’s move coincides with the fact that online activity by Android users has surpassed that of iOS users towards the end of 2012. Approximately 50% of the online traffic from Peruvian mobiles is now generated by Android handsets and only 45% comes from iPads and iPhones.
