Also: seemingly it is suitable for illegal Twitch gambling too – until the country you are in gets fed up and takes some serious actions.

We can agree on one thing: we are living in the time of streamers, content creators, YouTubers, and influencers. And as such, there are several platforms – actually, there are more and more of them – where they can present themselves to the world. One of them is the video streaming platform, Twitch. It is pretty popular, it is fun, and it is legal. As long as the users use it for what it was made for. Well, not it looks like that a streamer in Slovakia used the platform for something more: illegal Twitch gambling. But how is that possible? And what was the answer from the government? See all the details here!

What is Twitch?

Since it has not been around for too long, we start with a little 101 on Twitch. According to Wikipedia, “Twitch is an American video live streaming service that focuses on video game live streaming, including broadcasts of e-sports competitions. In addition, it offers music broadcasts, creative content, and more recently, “in real life” streams. It is operated by Twitch Interactive, a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. It was introduced in June 2011 as a spin-off of the general-interest streaming platform Justin. tv. Content on the site can be viewed either life or via video on demand.” So, as you can see it gives several ways of use for everyone. Well, illegal Twitch gambling is certainly not one of them. But we know how people are creative creatures, trying to get the best out of everything!

Illegal Twitch gambling

As of today, there are several online gambling sites in Slovakia, as gambling in the country is legal in all of its variety. Sites like Unique Casino welcome their customers. That is why it could come as a surprise for many, that they found a streamer who conducted illegal gambling on their Twitch site. And this has gained a lot of attention since recently there were several complaints about such practice on the sites. Negative feedback – from the audience and sponsors as well – claim that the platform is not efficient in stepping up against the illegal contents broadcasted on their site. And this way, these contents can reach not only adults but kids as well. And one of these contents is definitely gambling, as several fans are watching the streamers spinning virtual slots and such.

What happened in Slovakia?

Several online gambling news sites in Slovakia shared the news: a Slovakian Twitch star caused huge trouble with illegal Twitch gambling. The guy, called dDandis used his streaming platform to stream how he was playing online poker. Of course, it is totally legal to play some poker on Unique Casino – the only thing illegal is streaming it. And because of that, the country banned the service altogether. They did not care about dDandis and his over 35,000 followers. He violated the gambling-related laws of the country, so they made a bold decision. It is not clear yet, how they are going to go on with this current state. But as for now, this is something that has an effect on several users and streamers as well.

And in the meantime, we can only hope that this will be a wake-up call for all those streamers who do not use the platforms as they are supposed to. But that is something that we also have to wait out!
