London’s Hippodrome Casino is about to get a makeover with the addition of a new floor combining entertainment and gambling.
The Hippodrome Casino in London’s East End is already one of the biggest in the UK and is about to get even bigger when it opens Lola’s Underground Casino. Lola’s will be located on the premises of the Hippodrome but offer something that owner Simon Thomas claims is completely new: entertainment and gambling side-by-side on the casino floor.
Thomas credits changes to UK gambling laws over the past decade as making the venture possible:
“Hitherto this would have been impossible for any UK casino, but we’re bringing to life the vision and spirit of the 2005 Gaming Act which now allows venues like ours to offer a much more rounded entertainment experience.”
Lola’s represents growing demand for casino gambling in the UK
While online casinos in the UK have become extremely popular, land-based venues like the Hippodrome have seen spikes in their customer bases as well.
Thomas told reporters that the casino is seeing 32,000 visitors weekly, making an expansion of its entertainment and table game offerings necessary.
Lola’s will offer a unique experience, putting dancing girls and a bar right up next to the gaming tables. Of course, players who prefer a quieter gambling environment are free to pay in the Hippodrome’s other rooms.
