We’re now more than halfway through 2017, and many important fights have already taken place. Two major UFC events will be taking place this July, and MMA betting experts around the world are already busy making their predictions.
There are many different options to choose from, but here we will break down a few of the best UFC fights to bet on in July with one of the best online sportsbooks in the UK, Paddy Power.
Bet on Alistair Overeem vs. Fabricio Werdum
The rubber match between two of the best heavyweights in the world will be taking place on July 8th at UFC 213. Alistair Overeem will be looking to earn his second straight win after the loss to Stipe Miocic, while Fabricio Werdum returns to the cage for the first time since September of 2016.
Alistair Overeem’s past five fights
- Roy Nelson: Win via UD
- Junior Dos Santos: Win via TKO
- Andrei Arlovski: Win via TKO
- Stipe Miocic: Loss via KO
- Mark Hunt: Win via KO
Alistair Overeem is one of the most accomplished fighters in combat sports history, having won a number of major MMA titles as well as the biggest championship in kickboxing. He avenged his loss to Werdum back in 2011, and is now listed as the slight betting favorite to do it again this July with odds of 4/6.
Fabricio Werdum fought his way up the ranks to become UFC heavyweight champion, but lost the belt in his first title defense. He quickly rebounded with a solid win over Travis Browne, but has been sitting on the sidelines for more than 10 months. Werdum has improved greatly over the years, and his odds here are a reason why this is one of the best UFC fights to bet on in July. Paddy Power lists his current odds to win at 6/5.
Bet on Chris Weidman vs. Kelvin Gastelum
A massively important middleweight fight will be going down on July 22nd. This fight has some major implications in the division, as the winner will likely move close to a title shot. The bout is particularly important for Chris Weidman, who’s coming off three straight losses in the division.
There were many MMA analysts predicting Chris Weidman would be a long-reigning champion after he made UK gambling news by defeating Anderson Silva in back to back fights. He managed to defend his belt twice, but was beaten down and stopped against Luke Rockhold. Since then he’s been stopped two more times to both Yoel Romero and Gegard Mousasi, and as a result is entering this fight as the underdog with odds of 11/10.
Kelvin Gastelum had an impressive run at 170 pounds, but weight issues were a reoccurring theme during this time, and he was eventually forced up to 185 pounds. Since the he’s looked fantastic with three straight wins, most recently a TKO victory over Vitor Belfort in Brazil. Paddy Power lists Gastelum’s odds to beat Weidman at 8/11.
Bet on Daniel Cormier vs. Jon Jones
There’s no denying that DC vs. Jones is one of the best UFC fights to bet on in July. These two men have arguably the biggest rivalry in MMA history, and will finally have their rematch at UFC 214.
Daniel Cormier won the light-heavyweight title in May of 2015, and has since won three straight fights. He proved he’s one of the best fighters in the world this past April with a second round submission win over Anthony Johnson. Although he’s been much more active as of late, DC is entering this fight as the MMA betting underdog with odds of 15/8.
Jon Jones is still considered to be one of the greatest fighters of all time, although his well publicized legal troubles have kept him on the sidelines over the years. Jones already defeated DC back in early 2015, and is the favorite heading into the rematch with odds of 2/5.
