The playoffs are getting closer and closer, and now is the perfect time to break down a few of the best players in the MLB in 2017.
It’s been a fascinating season this year in the MLB. A number of teams expected to thrive this season have fallen behind in the rankings, while some underdog teams have risen to become some of the favorites to win the World Series.
On October 3rd, the 2017 postseason will begin, and now is a great time to discuss some of the best players in the league right now, and what each of their teams are to win the championship according to one of the best online sportsbooks in the US, Intertops Sportsbook.
Clayton Kershaw: Los Angeles Dodgers
Starting pitcher for the Dodgers Clayton Kershaw has been a top player in the MLB for years, and is a key reason why LA has become one of the World Series betting favorites this year. At 29 years of age, Kershaw has already won 3 CY Young awards and has one of the best ERA’s in professional baseball.
2017 World Series betting favorites
- Los Angeles Dodgers: 3.60
- Houston Astros: 5.50
- Boston Red Sox: 7.50
- Washington Nationals: 8.00
- Cleveland Indians: 8.00
Unfortunately, injuries have plagued Clayton for the past couple of years. Recently, he was placed on the diabled list after suffering a back injury, but all reports state he will be back sometime in the coming weeks.
Kershaw is without a doubt one of the best players in the MLB in 2017, and is likely one of the very best pitchers in modern baseball history. He’s already set numerous records and will be a key to LA advancing through the playoffs. At the moment, the Dodgers’ odds to win the World Series are set at 3.60.
Mike Trout: Los Angeles Angels
Interestingly enough, it’s another LA-based team that possesses one of the best players in the MLB in 2017. Center fielder Mike Trout had somewhat of a rocky start to his MLB career, but in just a few short years has grown to become one of the most well-rounded and most sought after player in the league.
Trout already owns two AL MVP awards and holds a batting average of .309. He’s recorded 191 homeruns during his pro career and recently earned his 1000th career hit.
While the Angels have struggled somewhat during the regular season likely due to Trout’s absence with a hand injury, they are beginning to gain momentum and have a real shot at making US gambling news by pulling off the upset championship win. At the moment, Intertops Sportsbook lists the Angels’ odds to win the World Series at 51.00.
Bryce Harper: Washington Nationals
Much like Trout. Bryce Harper signed with the MLB at the ripe age of 19 and has since risen to become one of the best players in the MLB in 2017. He’s a star player both at right field and at bat, with a current batting average of .286 with 150 homeruns.
Harper had some baseball betting experts feeling like his time had passed him by after a somewhat lackluster 2016, but he rebounded this year with numerous homeruns and some key saves in the outfield.
The injury bug seems to plague the players on this list. On August 12th, Harper suffered a hyper extended knee while running to first base. An MRI revealed he didn’t suffer any ligament damage, but he’s dealing with a serious bone bruise and has been placed on the disabled list indefinitely. Nonetheless, the Nationals are still a great World Series betting option with odds of 8.00.
