Is There Anyone Who Doesn’t Know about Friends?

If you grew up in the 1990s and 2000s, you remember how popular Friends was. The American comedy show about six friends and their routine, work, and relationship in New York City won people’s hearts outside its borders. The sitcom premiered in 1994 and took television by storm, while its title stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Matthew Perry woke up famous.

Friends was everywhere back in their peak days. Besides airing on TV in prime time and winning multiple accolades, the show found its followers in the most unexpected ways.

For example, gambling providers came up with Friends themed slots for online casinos in the US, while game manufacturers offered sitcom-based board games and even recreated the one invented by Ross in season 4. To say nothing about posters, bookmarks, notebooks, and other merchandise that surrounded us in everyday life. Even though the last Friends episode was released in 2004, the show’s legacy lives on. It is still considered one of the greatest and impactful sitcoms ever made. However, memories about the series hit differently now…

Friends Will Never be the Same without Matthew Perry

On October 28, all Friends community was shocked by Matthew Perry’s death. Aged 54, he was found unconscious in a hot tub and, unfortunately, it was too late to do anything to save him. On November 3, Perry was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.

His Friends costars issued a joint statement to in memoriam of Matthew Perry:

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world.”

Besides Friends cast, many other celebrities have sent their condolences about the actor’s tragic passing. Gwyneth Paltrow, Justin Trudeau, Salma Hayek, Charlie Puth, Viola Davis, and Kate Hudson are just some of the colleagues who were affected by the accident, to say nothing about millions of Friends fans who created tributes in the iconic locations from the sitcom and on social media.

Matthew Will Always Live in Friends Themed Slots and Our Memories

Friends fans last saw Chandler in the special reunion episode, which was released on Max in May 2021. All the cast members returned for Friends: The Reunion, including Matthew Perry. However, he’ll always stay with us as a part of our teen years.

Matthew Perry is gone, but his Chandler Bing will always stay within the TV show, in Friends themed slots at Ignition, and our sweet memories about old-good times. If you also have nostalgia for the 1990s, it’s the best time to rewatch the first season, play Friends Monopoly, or find new activities, like WMS’s Friends online slot. Let’s not forget that life goes on, and we can still enjoy your favorite show in different ways.
