Europe is alive with chatter of changing gambling laws regarding the internet. Most recently, changes were made in France. France is trying to harness and regulate the online gambling industry in order to boost the state’s revenue during these economically difficult times. German gambling laws may be following in the footsteps of the neighboring country through the legislations power of the pen.
Currently, all forms of online gambling in Germany is considered illegal with exception to one: horse racing. The situation was the exact same in France until just recently, when the laws changed. The ban is scheduled to end in just two years, at which point online gambling sites in Germany will flourish.
The law that is in place already has a lot of pressure built up against it in the form of different European groups and certain influential German politicians. This law can soon be considered to be dead in the water.
We may not be seeing this change actually take effect for the next two years, but it cannot be denied that progress is being made on the part of online gambling efforts. The government knows what its people want: the freedom to do what they want, to gamble online. Internet gambling in Germany will be a reality if the people keep up the hard work.
The only thing standing in the way of online gambling opportunities in Germany is time at this point. There are other obstacles, however, that may hinder players even when gambling is permitted. The case of France is a perfect example. Online gambling in France was legalized but there are many restrictions and a high tax rate. Nevertheless, progress is being made.
