Mesut Özil will play in laceless boots in the derby against city-rival FC Chelsea. The innovative shoes are designed by Adidas.
Whenever you believe you have already seen everything, that’s when you should expect to be amazed by newest innovations the most. From plain black Adidas shoes, weird football fashion started going into a more commercialized place.
We kept getting newer and weirder shoes year after year: Do you remember those shiny Nike shoes from the past few years that had the weirdest possible colours?
Now weird colours weren’t enough, the latest invention is laceless boots by Adidas.
The new shoes will debut on the weekend at Arsenal’s game, according to the latest news in the UK. Mesut Özil will hope to be able to do against Chelsea what he can do best in general: serve his mates with amazing assists. In addition, he will hope to achieve that in his new laceless boots. Isn’t it amazing?
It’s all about the money
Football boot producers decided that not innovating any longer would be boring. They need to sell their products so they need to create something new all the time. This does not apply only to football boot producers but to clubs as well – you can see the largest clubs in the world.
They make new jersey year after year in different style, design and colour, just so you can buy one every year.
Do you remember FC Barcelona’s cocktail coloured jersey from the season 2012-13. Or the pink jerseys for Juventus and Real Madrid?
Somehow these clubs have to attract those people who are attracted to the cutest colours too…
But laceless boots and pink football jerseys are not all, Italy for example made super tight and super strange shirt for the 2014 World Cup.
What will this mania to make innovations in football equipment do to the game itself? Maybe in the not-so-distant future we will have to wager on players’ boots and jerseys instead of betting on sports…
