The Catalan flag fine come as a result of supporters waving the famous red and yellow banner during their team’s 3-1 victory over Juventus last month.
Reigning La Liga champions FC Barcelona are looking to appeal the Catalan flag fine placed on them by the European football governing body. According to gambling news, UEFA has a strict code “against the use of gestures, words, objects or any other means to transmit any message that is not fit for a sports event, particularly messages that are of a political, ideological, religious, offensive or provocative nature.”
On the official website of the club, a statement read “FC Barcelona respects UEFA’s decision that was relayed to the club on Thursday in relation to the Champions League final in Berlin.” Furthermore, the announcement stated “with the aim of defending the rights of the club and its members and while respecting current legislation, the club’s legal services will consider the possibility of questioning the fine announced today, Thursday.”
The Catalan Flag fine and Recent Ban
The Catalan flag fine is another price the club is facing in the last few months. In April 2014, the club was found guilty of violating FIFA’s regulation on the transfer of players aged below 18. Since then, the Blaugrana have been banned from signing any new players. Reports from online casinos suggest that new players like Ardan Turan, who recently signed for the club, will not be able to play until January 2016.
The Blaugrana’s are currently on their pre-season tour of the USA. They play English side Manchester United and Chelsea FC in their next 2 games respectively. FC Barcelona recorded a treble winning season where they won the La Liga, Copa Del Rey and the UEFA Champions league. As reported by mobile betting sites, they kick off the new campaign against Sevilla FC in the UEFA Super Cup.
