F1 conspiracy theories
Life would be so much easier if everything was simple, fair, and sportsmanlike, right? Well, by the rule of our universe, the positive attracts the negative. Whenever we see a grand event with billions of money invested, we can not help but be in awe. However, those involved will slowly start to see the cash and not the phenomenon. This is why we collected some of the wildest F1 conspiracy theories.
Today we are going to talk about some of the F1 conspiracy theories. Some of these theories might be true, and some might be just interesting. Let us start by highlighting that we are not accusing anyone of doing anything. Simply, we have collected some of the wildest claims on social media and Formula 1 forums. We are going to share our personal opinions on each conspiracy theory, but our opinion is not reflective of the truth, rather, it is our speculation.
The world of F1 is big money and an even bigger show. The greatest conspiracy is the fact that conspiracies are artificially made, so they keep the community engaged with the topic. Well, that’s one perspective of seeing things. If you are not interested in theories, then we recommend you to take a look at the best odds at the online sportsbook sites in the US to be able to wager on the next GP!
The Stolen Jewel – F1 Conspiracy Theories
This one could turn into a whole movie. We have heard of strange heists before, where a group of people decide to steal a highly valuable diamond from a store or a bank. Well, the same happened here! We don’t know who did it, and we don’t know where the diamond is. But a highly valuable diamond was stolen from an F1 car! According to the Medium, there was a $300,000 worth of Diamond Jaguar on one of the Jaguar Team’s F1 cars in 2004. However, the car crashed badly, and the diamond was gone. To this day, no one has found it. The treasure has been lost in Monaco for a decade now. However, there are some fun facts and speculations we can make here:
- It can be a publicity stunt
- Diamonds can easily shatter
- The diamond could have burned
- Someone could have stolen the diamond
- It may be in the water where it flew off
- It was still the cheapest part of the car
Neither of these options is impossible. If you wish to bet on the upcoming F1 games, we recommend you register at Bovada Sportsbook!
Alonso Electrocuted By Honda Power Unit
The F1 conspiracy theories are pretty wild, but perhaps one of the wildest is the electrocute case. During the 2015 pre-testing, Alonso was testing out the new car with a Honda Power unit. It was a rather strange story, and to this day no one understands what happens. His team was also dismissing the theories, just as he did. The story goes as follows:
During the 2015 pre-testing, there were rough winds during the test run, reported by several Formula 1 drivers. Some drivers, including Alonso, have crashed. However, Alonso’s case was different from the rest. He speeded up, and he reported that he had flashbacks from his childhood when he was driving a go-cart. He went into a coma during and after the crash, and when he woke up, he started speaking Italian, thinking he was still driving for Ferrari in 1995. But what might have happened? The possible explanations:
- Gas leaking and wind blowing it could caused his memory loss and hallucinations
- Electric shock which caused a mesh in his neurological system
- Slight brain damage
Whatever happened, we know that this year we saw Alonso talking about Schumacher. Thus, his memory has recovered!
Crashgate – F1 Conspiracy Theories
Now that we have reached the deep water, it is time to talk about the Crashgate. Once more, this conspiracy is featuring Fernando Alonso. However, in this case, he did not crash. Because there were several bettors, we also consider this case among the biggest gambling court cases. To put the story short: In 2008, Nelson Piquet crashed into the wall, giving a huge advantage to his fellow teammate for Renault, who was Fernando Alonso.
The accusations for this case were hinting at the fact that Nelson Piquet had crashed intentionally, to help the team win the circuit. Of course, Fernando Alonso won. Everything indicates that the case was indeed intentional, and premeditated by the team. However, the new conspiracy theory states that Fernando Alonso knew about the crashgate all along, and he was in it, despite probably not liking the fact that they did it.
Red Bull Advantage Due To Valkyrie Testing
This is one of the latest theories among the F1 conspiracy theories. It isn’t as popular as you might expect. According to Reddit, a user highlighted the speculations about the advantage. You probably noticed that Red Bull has been dominating the 2022, 2023, and 2024 season so far, right? Well, the F1 has strict rules against testing technologies out of season. However, there are some strings to connect about Red Bull’s advances.
So far, they claim that it is Newey’s aerodynamic expertise that pushed the advancements further. However, Red Bull did collaborate with Ashton Martin on their supercar, the Valkyrie. This car shares diffuser similarities with F1 cars. Thus, the conspiracy states that Red Bull gained an unfair advantage from working on the Valkyrie.
Ferrari Self-Sabotage – F1 Conspiracy Theories
Oh, yet another conspiracy about Ferrari. This time, we are going to consider the value of the brand. Before you read this theory, we recommend you read our Michael Schumacher career recap. Essentially, he was a superstar among F1 drivers, a true hero for a generation of F1 fans. However, he suffered an unfortunate injury while hiking. The next year, his teammate would have won the World Championship, had they not messed something up by sending him to the wrong pit stop.
The theory goes as follows: Ferrari did not want fans to feel like their hero could be easily replaced, nor did they want someone else from their team to win the World title. Therefore, they arranged the whole deal, not allowing anyone else but Schumacher to win such titles. The reason behind this would be simple. They could have hoped for Schumacher’s return, which would generate an intense amount of revenue for the next championship. If fans think that Schumacher is easily replaceable, they stop buying merchandise.
Spygate Conspiracy
Finally, we reached the last of the F1 conspiracy theories. According to Racing News 365, this is F1’s biggest scandal, which was proven to be true. McLaren was fined $100 million for the Spygate incident. During the 2007 espionage crisis that engulfed Formula1’s two biggest teams, two people, Nigel Stepney from Ferrari, and his friend Mike Coughlan, who is a Chief Designer of McLaren, were stealing 800 pages of confidential technical information about Ferrari. Both of them tried to get jobs with other teams.
However, we must highlight that the teams were not faulty. However, this was the era where Hamilton began his dominance. Many speculated that it might have been the confiscated information that led to his victories. But those are still just allegations and speculations. – If you wish to bet on the upcoming and hopefully fair F1 races, you can do so by registering at Bovada Sportsbook.
