The Liberal (Venstre) Party, which lost the election on June 05, is to move forward with a new leader. The only formal candidates, for now, are Jakob Ellemann-Jensen for leadership and Inger Stojberg for the deputy position. Ellemann-Jensen and Stojberg are also running ahead at the new Denmark’s Liberal Party leader betting odds.
Danish Venstre Party’s leadership contest is about to take place sometime later this year. The contest has been triggered after the former leader Lars Lokke Rasmussen and his deputy Kristian Jensen both resigned. They have stepped down after ten years of service and following weeks of in-fighting and maneuvering within the party.
According to online gambling news in Denmark, Liberals the largest party on Denmark’s right are looking to regain people’s confidence. As such they will pick new faces to steer with different agenda. So far only two contenders have announced their will to take over, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen and Inger Stojberg. Ellemann-Jensen supported by leading Liberal figures
Ellemann-Jensen has just announced his intention to stand for the leadership of Denmark’s Liberal Party, according to The Local. Many leading Liberal figures are willing to support Ellemann-Jensen to leave his post as the party’s spokesperson and take over the leadership. However, some popular figures in the party such as Karsten Lauritzen and Ellen Trane Norby might run in the contest. Laurizen (20) became Tax Minister at the age of 31 between 2015-2019. Whereas, Norby (12) spent most of her life as a Liberal member and was the Minister of health between 2016-2018. Norby and Lauritzen did not yet announce their candidacy, but they can pose a big threat. The Copenhagen Post has reported that Norby and Lauritzen are among the top 20 candidates to receiving the most votes in the general election.
Stojberg might be challenged by Norby or Lauritzen
Following Ellemann-Jensen’s confirmation that he seeks to become the leader of the Liberals, Inger Stojberg decided to run for the deputy leader. Her odds are 1.18 at online sportsbooks in Denmark. On the one hand, she might lose the election because of her controversies when she was the Minister of Immigration. On the other, she is considered the second most popular figure after Rasmussen, which of course can get her the deputy despite the controversies.
Regarding her potential challengers, it might be either Ellen Trane Norby or Karsten Lauritzen. One of the two might decide to run for the deputy rather than the leadership.
