Apple and Google were urged by Dutch gaming authorities to remove gambling apps targeting Dutch players.
As mobile gambling is getting increasingly popular, the Dutch gaming authorities have asked Google and Apple to remove gambling apps from their app stores. According to Dutch gambling news, there are 49 real-money gambling applications targeting the country’s citizens. Currently, Dutch gambling laws don’t apply to mobile gambling so the market is unregulated.
Legislators are scheduled to debate new Dutch gambling laws in the coming weeks. If the new proposals succeed, operators could apply for gambling licenses in Netherlands. As of now, illegally operating gambling sites in Netherland can be fined up to EUR 800,000.
