All British heavyweight championship between Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce was recently rescheduled. The fight will take place on July 11, still at London’s O2 Arena. The Dubois vs Joyce odds give a slight edge to Dubois, even though the majority agrees it can easily go either way.
The two unbeaten British heavyweight prospects will go head-to-head for the British, Commonwealth, WBC Silver, WBO International, and WBA Gold titles. The hottest prize though will be about who can make some serious noise in the heavyweight division. The winner will likely be very close to a heavyweight title shot within a year.
According to online sportsbook news in the UK, Dubois vs Joyce is the biggest domestic clash in 2020 by far. The last time such a good British matchup was set in 2015 when Anthony Joshua squared off against Dillian Whyte. Both fighters have a perfect record. They are massive punchers, unbeaten and have similar abilities. Although Dubois vs Joyce odds favor Dubois, many think it is simply a coin toss. The winner will likely be the one who lands clean first.
Dubois has several technical advantages over Joyce
At the age of 22, Daniel Dubois has a record of 14-0, with 13 KOs. He made a very impressive performance against the formerly unbeaten Nathan Gorman and won with a devastating KO. Two months later Dubois defeated the formerly unbeaten Ebenezer Tetteh. He then completed his 2019 campaign with a second-round KO against Kyotaro Fujimoto in December.
Since Dubois did not have so many tough tests in his pro career, Joe Joyce will probably be the biggest test so far. However, despite that Dubois is still building his resume, he has several technical advantages over Joyce. Dubois is 12 years younger than his opponent. He has great boxing IQ, and he hits very hard. Dubois is well-known for having one of the best jabs in boxing. No surprise that Dubois vs Joyce odds favor Dubois with a value of 1.205 at Pinnacle Sportsbook.
Joyce has better experience than Dubois
Despite that the ‘Juggernaut’ Joe Joyce is 34 years old, he turned pro in 2017. Joyce had a very busy three years fighting ten times and winning them all, with 9 KOs. His resume includes several quality fighters and former champions. His biggest win came last year in July when he defeated Bryant Jennings. Before that fight, he won against the former WBC titleholder Bermane Stiverne and knocked out Alexander Ustinov.
Joe Joyce is currently the WBA Gold champion and previously held the former Commonwealth and WBA Continental titles. Besides, he is ranked No. 1 by the EBU. Looking back at his amateur experience, Joyce had much better fights than Dubois and he won the 2016 Olympic silver medal. He is also around an inch taller than Dubois and possesses a two-inch reach advantage.
Although many analysts think Joyce is a bit slow, he is clearly being overlooked by online sportsbooks in the UK. He stands as the underdog with a value of 4.650, but his chances of winning are 50/50. If you wish to see all the best boxing odds for 2020, do not miss checking our review about Pinnacle Sports.
