So, it begins. With a massive season still spread out ahead of them the title contenders remain on good terms. We know this because they’ve said so. Of course, those who regularly puts a bet on sports in the UK, will take that with a pinch of salt. Anyone looking at the 2021 odds on F1 at Bet365 or similar knows it probably won’t last. Especially not if their season scores don’t diverge a lot more than they already have. The end of a close season could see a very different attitude.

The road to hell, they say, is paved with good intentions. In F1 they scatter it with fragments of carbon fibre bodywork for good measure. Drivers start each season afresh with hope in their hearts and goodwill towards their competitors. They revel in participation of what is a very select club. However, this rarely lasts. Instances on track and off can set drivers against each other very easily. Add to that a title battle the 2021 odds on F1 show as very tight and the results are inevitable.

I always have full trust in Lewis that we all give each other enough space.” Said Max Verstappen after the exciting overtakes in the Portuguese Grand Prix. The irony there being that Max himself has not always been so generous with the track. However, you can bet on Red Bull and Mercedes both to have leaned on their drivers to avoid this getting ugly. They know the 2021 odds on F1 at online betting sites in the UK like Bet365 indicate this season will remain close.

Mutual Respect, But For How Long?

I think it is naturally down to respect.” Lewis Hamilton joined in. “I think we will continue to keep it clean and keep it on the edge.” Which is a lovely sentiment. Right? But even he knows that with another 20 races to go, that respect might wear thin. “I don’t think either of us has a plan to get any closer than we have been.” No one plans crashing into another driver, but those 2021 odds on F1 are so tight. He knows staying calm will be tough at the end of a close season.

The odds on Max Verstappen having an understanding of this are so short they could limbo under an F1 car. He has demonstrated temper issues before and is not beyond squeezing people out on track. Just ask Charles Leclerc. So, both teams look at 2021 odds on F1 at online sportsbook sites in the UK like Bet365 with some trepidation. You can bet on Mercedes in particular to worry. They’ve done the driver animosity thing before. They really won’t want to repeat it.

That means you can probably bet on the Spanish Grand Prix finishing clean. Right now, the odds on Lewis Hamilton winning hover at around 11/10, with a bet on Max Verstappen garnering just 6/4. Those are not very surprising 2021 odds on F1. Mercedes likes this track. So, a bet on Lewis Hamilton this time round seems sensible. Of course, not everyone who puts a bet on F1 is looking for sensible. For those looking for a risky thrill you can get 10/1 on no cars retiring in Spain.

F1 Drivers Championship Odds

  • Any Other Driver – 40/1+
  • Max Verstappen – 13/8
  • Lewis Hamilton – 4/9

The 2021 odds on F1 aren’t all about the winners. You can find 4/1 on Nikita Mazepin retiring from the race first, 6/1 on Valtteri Bottas getting the fastest qualifying time, and a plethora of other opportunities. However, focus is going to remain on these top two drivers. Primarily amongst those who’ve taken advantage of UK gambling laws at Bet365 to bet on either one. That’s because we all know this could very easily end in tears, despite their current kind words.
