  • Sausage Roll Songs Won In Both 2018 & 19
  • Bet On The 2020 Christmas No.1 At Bet365
  • Is This A Novelty Christmas Wager Too Far?

Were one to need any more proof we have slipped into a dystopian nightmare just check out the prices on this year’s Christmas chart topper on offer at online sportsbook sites in the UK like Bet365. The favorite this year? Where one should find an old favorite and or new seasonal toe tapper there’s a Youtube idiot who doesn’t even have a song out yet. The world has gone mad. Worse still it’s the same lunatic that has won the last two years running. Ladbaby is back.

There are numerous things about the UK no one understands. Cricket, Morris Dancing, Marmite, Boris Johnson. Each and all of them utterly incomprehensible to anyone from outside the UK. Likewise, the British obsession with “a little flutter” can sometimes seem bizarre. An occasional wager is not so strange, but a bet on the next Royal baby? No one should care about the odds on snow at Christmas. That’s just weird. As is, quite frankly, a bet on the 2020 Christmas No.1.

Just where this tradition arose from is anyone’s guess. Now it’s a firm fixture each and every Xmas. So, normally quite sensible people will suddenly succumb to the desire for a wager on pop music. It’s like a bet on reality TV only this time the people you’re betting on have some talent. Although, the odds available for a bet on the 2020 Christmas No.1 at online betting sites in the UK like Bet365 reveal that isn’t necessary. Ladbaby is back again for a third bite at the rusk.

Ladbaby Leads 2020 Christmas No.1 Odds

So, Ladbaby won in 2018. The song itself was a novelty tune about sausage rolls. It was precisely the right mixture of cheese and whimsy. As a one-hit wonder it was just fine. But, then the same idiot won again in 2019. This year he’s not yet released a tune and yet is already favorite. Ladbaby has quite spoilt the whole concept of a bet on the 2020 Christmas No.1 just by existing. A third win in a row for a horrid cringe inducing piece of schmaltz? What could be more British in 2020?

“I love sausage rolls.”

  • Ladbaby – 2019

Well yes. A bet on a White Christmas is quite cheesy too, but that doesn’t have the same level of horror. Have we not suffered enough, 2020? Could we not have a bet on the 2020 Christmas No.1 without this headstone for talent? People were looking forward to taking advantage of UK gambling laws and backing a real musician. So Bet365 offers odds on a nice range of professionals. They represent numerous genres and styles. Ladbaby only represents the end of our civilization.

You Can Bet On The 2020 Christmas No.1 At Bet365

It could have been so different. Bet365 offer 6/1 on Liam Gallagher, the moody half of Oasis. Sure, he’s not everyone’s idea of Christmas but at least he’s a real musician. Likewise, Justin Bieber is not everyone’s cup of tea, but you can’t accuse him of being talentless. Bieber gets 9/1 if you’re going to bet on the 2020 Christmas No.1. That’s the same as the far more palatable Mariah Carey. So, half the rather lengthy odds on The Pogues and Fairytale Of New York at 18/1.

Xmas No.1 Odds

  • The Pogues – 18/1
  • Sam Fender – 14/1
  • Becky Hill – 10/1
  • Justin Bieber – 9/1
  • Mariah Carey – 9/1
  • Jess Glynne – 8/1
  • Liam Gallagher – 6/1
  • Ladbaby – 6/4

Ladbaby winning would, of course, be entirely fitting for 2020. No depth unplumbed, no disaster avoided. Unfortunately, it means the odds on the 2020 Christmas No.1 rather preclude a bet on the 2020 Christmas No.1. There is a sad inevitability about it all. So, whilst this is a very British and rather traditional flutter, you’re better off with a bet on sports in the UK this Christmas. Well, unless Liam Gallagher decides to save us all from this nightmare. Possibly using a baseball bat.
