Amaya showed their confidence in Baazov by promoting him as the “old-new” CEO of the company.
With 96% of the votes of the shareholders, David Baazov was again elected for chief executive at Amaya Gaming, despite the insider trading probe in which he was involved, gambling news reports. According to Baazov, this case did not affect the day-to-day functions of Amaya and the executive team of the company tries continuously to focus their capacities on the regular activities of the company.
In the beginning of June it was announced by Amaya Gaming that the top executives of the company, Baazov and Sebaq, were involved in an investigation by the Quebec’s financial market watchdogs Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF). The investigation concerned a trading activity of the company’s shares but Amaya denied that personal trading by their chief executives were realized.
Amaya going beyond gaming
Baazov is confident that by the end of the investigation the reputation of Amaya Gaming will be cleared. He also hopes that by autumn this year the New Jersey gambling regulators will give a license to PokerStars for executing gaming activities in the state.
Amaya Gaming made significant effort, claims Baazov, to lobby the creation of new regulation concerning online gambling in the US. That will open many opportunities that will help Amaya to establish itself not only as a gaming provider but as a tech company at heart. In order to attract more consumers Baazov announced that by the end of the year they will launch internet services other than gaming.
