Danish Wunderkind; Are They A Dying Breed?

There are plenty of reasons for those that like to bet on sports in Denmark to wager on the English Premier League, but there might be another one in the near future as West Ham aim to make a play for the latest Danish Wunderkind to give a wider breadth of attack to their already potent strike force that has seen them rather successful already this season. The question is how long can this Nordic nation pump out talented youngsters with fewer and fewer of them around?
Danish Wunderkind Sisto
• West Ham showing an interest
• Sisto on wing at FC Midtyjlland
• EPL needs talent, Europe needs kids
Europeans are a little odd at the best of times. The close proximity of so many different cultures, languages and traditions has already led to wars, famine, plagues, the holocaust and, perhaps most horrifying of all; “It’s A Knock Out”. Many of these tragic circumstances are now written off as mere accidents of history but that merely covers up the real cause of these lamentable disasters, the stupidity of Europeans down through the years.
Obviously it’s tempting at this point to rattle on about the First World War being a conflict no one could be bothered to stop, that the Irish potato famine could have been easily avoided, or that the evils of light entertainment television in the 1970s was right there before our eyes if only we’d have taken the time to see it for the atrocity it actually was. However none of this will explain why this latest Danish wunderkind could be one of the last if Europeans aren’t less stupid in a hurry.
Now I realize that sounds a little apocalyptic but don’t worry, this isn’t about to turn into a Mad Max rewrite, worlds end not with a bang but a whimper, and Europe has been slowly sliding into a crisis not of a military but cultural nature, West Ham might today be trying to secure the services of Pione Sisto but if current trends continue there will be fewer and were Danish wunderkind, indeed far fewer young talented players per se in Europe, because there will be fewer children in Europe.
Can Immigration Counteract Declining Birthrates?
Birthrates across the continent have been in decline since the 1970s when developments in contraception provided easy, safe and reliable birth control, the majority of Europeans nations seeing fertility rates drop to below population replacement levels sometime around the start of the 1990s, and that fall has meant a distinctly aging population, demographically, one that places great stress on the welfare states of many of the liberal democracies on the continent.
If you’re Danish gambling laws of nature are keeping your population steady, you’re wrong, your population is in decline just as much as everywhere else in Europe, and the economic stability that has begun to re-emerge after the fiscal crisis is built on the idea that this trend can be reversed before the number of pensioners dwarfs the tax-paying portion of the country, and the financial devastation that would cause let alone dent the numbers of Danish wunderkind for Euro soccer teams to fawn over.
In Denmark this has led to adverts for holidays that suggest parents pay for their childless children to go on holiday where, surveys suggest, Danes have 51% more sex. “Do it for Mom” is the message, selling Danes the guilt trip that their parents are dying inside because they don’t have grandchildren, and rather amusingly comparing potential grandparents paying for them to get away together to physically helping out in the bedroom, the thought of which alone is actually quite off-putting.
Danish Wunderkind May Be Fewer & Further Between
That Denmark actually has to advertise sex is quite bizarre, encouraging people to breed as if they were uncooperative Panda in the zoo, especially when there are literally hoards of people willing to increase the population so long as it means no one is bombing them, recruiting them into a side of a civil war, or rounding them up for execution. That Europe is so aghast with the flocking immigrants from Syria and the like just when they NEED more people, says much about their stupidity.
Some worry about the cultural changes these new immigrants will bring with them, but I doubt they’ll be any more dangerous than any of the other cultural changes that have swept Europe over the centuries. Europe has survived far worse, and who is to say these new members of our population won’t be the parents of the next Danish wunderkind. After all Sisto is Ugandan born. The question is will Europe see the opportunity the immigrants present or just cower in fear of getting better houmous?
West Ham’s interest in Sisto is well founded, the twenty year old has skills, but having already beaten some of the biggest names in the EPL this season, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Man City, they won’t be gambling news of their interest in the winger from FC Midtyjlland will adjust their odds of taking the title. Of course if you want to bet on West Ham doing so they’re a very healthy 5.25 at ComeOn! Sportsbook to take the trophy and top the EPL, and the way they’re playing, they might just do it, Danish wunderkind or no Danish wunderkind.
