We take a look at some of the other games that will be played in the 1/8 finals of the Spanish Cup.
Spanish gambling news reports that Villareal aims to dampen the hopes of Real Sociedad away as they go head to head in tonight’s match. Sevilla will host Granada in a game where the former is viewed by many as the firm favorite that should easily overcome their opponents.
Elche are set to play against the mighty Barcelona at home however their chances are also rather slim considering the vast disparity between them. The greatest clash of the Cup will take place between giants Real Madrid and their cross town rivals Atletico Madrid on Thursday evening, where both will be looking to win the mouthwatering encounter.
Real Sociedad vs Villareal and Sevilla vs Granada
Real Sociedad and Villarreal will lock horns tonight but many have mixed feelings on who the winner might be of the encounter. The hosts have home record of 4 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses in La Liga which has propelled Bet365 to give them weaker odds 3.00 (2/1). They will have home field advantage however this is a Cup game and the atmosphere is somewhat different from a league match.
• Sevilla and Granada will go head to head
• Elche face tough battle against Barcelona at home
• Real Madrid looking to overcome rivals Atletico
Villarreal on the other hand have managed to surprise many this season by reaching 6th spot in La Liga and have an overall of 32 points. Their away record stands at 4 wins, 5 draws and only 1 loss, so it makes sense that online sportsbooks in Spain favor them for the win 2.45 (29/20). A tie is also another possibility for which the odds are 3.25 (9/4).
Granada will visit Sevilla tonight where they will be hoping to achieve some sort of a miracle. The visitors are last in the league and have only accumulated 20 points from 18 games with an away record of 1 win, 3 draws and 5 losses. Bet365 has given them outsider odds of 9.00 (8/1), as they are not likely to make their presence known throughout the game.
Sevilla are trying hard to break into the first three places of the league as they now sit in 4th place with 36 points. They have an impressive home record of 6 wins, 3 draws and 0 losses in the league and for this Bet365 has earmarked them as strong favorites to seal a win 1.33 (1/3). A tie between the two has been set at 5.25 (17/4). However we predict that Sevilla will have no trouble overcoming this game with ease.
Elche vs Barcelona and Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid
Barcelona were triumphant last weekend when they beat Atletico Madrid at home 3-1. The trio of Messi, Neymar and Suarez found the back of the net in that game, so they will be looking to build on their momentum to seal another victory against Elche away. The Catalans are in second position in the league and considered the far superior side which is why they are favorites 1.20 (1/5).
Elche are not enjoying the same elite status and are struggling in 19th place with only 14 points. They have a home record 1 win, 3 draws and 5 losses and are not among the teams that are viewed as the trophy contenders. Bet365 has assigned odds of 15.00 (14/1), which means that they are highly unlikely to make a serious impact.
And the best encounter of the 1/8 finals of the Copa will see Real Madrid host Atletico Madrid on Thursday evening. Under Spanish gambling laws, Bet365 offers odds of 1.50 (1/2) for the Blancos to win as they have been phenomenal this season in every competition that they’ve entered. They are first in La Liga and are a point ahead of rivals Barcelona with one game in hand.
Atletico are considered as underdogs for this match considering that they lost most of their firepower over last summer’s transfer window which saw many great players leave. They sit third in the league, however for this game they have been assigned unlikely chances 6.50 (11/2). A draw 4.33 (10/3) between them is also not on the agenda as the hosts will most probably win the match on home soil.
