Russian and Italian teams have been dominating the men’s volleyball top European club tournament. The reigning champion is the Italian side Cucine Lube Civitanova. The CEV Champions League 2020 betting odds are giving them the most chance to win again this season, let’s see which teams can stop them.
After the qualification, 20 volleyball teams are competing in the CEV Champions League in five 4-teamed groups. We find 3 teams from the best countries, Italy, Russia and Poland. The group winners and three best 2nd placed teams will go through to the quarterfinals. The final will be in next May, but the location is not known yet, though Milan has the best chance to host it.
CEV Champions League 2020 betting odds expect last year’s teams in the final
Online sportsbooks in Italy are predicting that their side, last year’s champion, Cucine Lube Civitanova can defend their title. Their odds are 3.00. Volley Lube was founded in 1990 in the town of Treia, but their actual playing venue is in neighboring Civitanova Marche. The club is a five-time Italian champion. They also managed to win the Champions League twice, in 2002 and 2019. They are second in the Men’s European club ranking behind Russian team Zenit Kazan which has 5.00 odds to win the tournament with 1xBet.
These two teams know each other well, as they met in the final of the last two seasons. Zenit has already won the Champions League five times, making it the most successful team in the Champions League new history. The tournament has been running since 2000 before it was called CEV European Champions Cup. In the former competition, another Russian team, CSKA Moscow was dominating.
This season probably Volley Lube will have the more difficult road to the final. Their group definitely looks stronger with the Turkish side Fenerbahce and compatriot Trentino in it. Still qualifying to the last 12 should be an easy task for the team.
Other favorites to win the Champions League
As it was mentioned Italian sides are generally doing great in the tournament, and Itas Diatec Trentino is another example of that. They won the Champions League for three consecutive years between 2008 and 2011. Last time they appeared there in the 2015-16 season when they only lost in the final against Zenit. Theis odds now to win the top league is 6.10.
In the CEV Champions League 2020 betting odds the third Italian team, Sir Safety Perugia are also mentioned as one of the favorites. They’ve also had a prestigious history in the league, finishing second in 2017 and third in 2018. Like the other Italian teams, they lost against Zenit last season, but surely they will try to fight back this year. Their odds with 1xBet is 3.3. Finally, to show teams from other countries are also presented, we can mention the Polish side ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle, which has been given the odds of 25.00 by online gambling sites in Italy. It was a long time ago, in 1978 when a Polish team was the best in Europe. Since then they couldn’t repeat this success, but Polish teams have reached the final four in the last few years. Who knows, they might reach the top in 2020.
