The last year has not been easy for any sports team. And as such, it has been rough for one of the most popular teams of Spain, the Real Madrid as well. But they decided to make the best out of the current situation. The difficulties of 2020 coincided with the team’s vision to renovate their stadium. And what is more: the new Santiago Bernabeu Stadium will home a casino as well, to benefit casino lovers!

The Real Madrid, or Los Blancos, have not been able to play on their own field for the last year. But soon their endurance will pay off when they can return to the new and great stadium. And now it looks like it will not only be in their favor but in gamblers’ as well! According to InsiderSport Santiago Bernabeu will include a casino! And since gamblers could only play on online casino sites in Spain for the last year, it is huge news for them! Once the building is completed and everything opens up again, they can go and spin some slots before and after matches!

The home of Real Madrid

One of the world’s most famous football stadiums is the Santiago Bernabeu. It was first opened in 1947 and named after the famous Spanish footballer. Ever since then it hosted countless memorable – and a couple of historical – football matches with the greatest footballers on its field. And now, it has been over a year since Santiago Bernabeu, the home of Los Blancos staged a football match. Ever since then the Real Madrid is playing its home fixtures in another stadium, called the Alfredo Di Stefano. So, it is not just because of the difficult times of the past year, it is also because they are remodeling the whole Stadium. According to online casino news sites in Spain, the renovations will be ready by 2023 and it will cost around 575 million euros.

As mentioned above, the whole renovation of the stadium will cost a fortune. However, the planners have a solution in mind. They hope that a casino will generate enough income to recoup a sure portion of this sum. So far, they have a fair chance to lure many people – both football and gambling fanatics – in, just by opening up. But they aim further. Besides the casino, the structural corners of the stadium will be used to generate extra revenues. There will be a first-class restaurant, a new museum, spaces for tours and other events. As well as some shops and 360 screens with video scoreboards. As club President Florentino Pérez said: “For many more unforgettable moments at home, we present you the Santiago Bernabéu of the future.”

Boosting gambling in Spain

According to IGB’s data, we can confidently say that Spain is passionate about gambling. The country’s national gambling regulator is the so-called Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego. It reported a 13.8% year-on-year growth in online gross gambling revenue in the last year. So, people must be looking forward to having new ways to gratify their wagering needs! And the casino they are planning at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium is one way to give it to them. Also, sports wagering is still the primary source of gross gambling revenue. We should not underestimate it, although there was a bit of a setback in that field. That is to say, sports wagers in the country are still into sites like Interwetten, where they wager from the safety of their homes. But once they can, they will probably give the new casino a go as well!
