Rodney Meadows of Modesto, California, won a massive $10 million jackpot using a $1,000 winning lottery ticket that he’d purchased a few minutes before.
In US gambling news, Meadows became a multimillionaire after he decided to test Lady Luck and buy three more tickets immediately after he won $1,000 from a scratch-off lottery ticket. He had gotten his initial winning lottery lottery when he spent $30 on several 30th Anniversary California tickets at a Fast Mart in Modesto.
Not only did Meadows win a second prize, but this time he’d hit the big time and scored the top winning lottery ticket of $10 million. He was stunned, saying: “First off, I could not believe it. I had to ask the clerk at the store and he said, ‘You better check it again on the machine.’” The machine was correct.
It’s not Meadows’ first winning lottery ticket
Online gambling sites in US report that Meadows’ double win is astonishing, but not his first. He was already the two-time holder of a $1,000 winning lottery ticket prior to scoring his third.
Meadows says his wins are not a result of mere luck, but due to a high frequency of play. He told lottery officials that he buys tickets four or five times each week, adding that: “I’ve been playing the California lottery since day one.”
Meadows has not made any decisions yet regarding how he plans to spend his millions.
