AB 167, the Californian online poker bill would establish a framework for the authorization and regulation of internet poker in the state.
The wait for legal online poker in California is not yet over. The bill, which could’ve authorized the online version of the popular card game in the state was swept from the agenda of the Assembly Governmental Organization Committee. It was first introduced by Assembly Member Reginald Jones-Sawyer, on January 22, 2015.

The bill would be known as the Internet Poker Consumer Protection Act. If its accepted, operators could apply for 4-year licenses to offer poker games to registered players in California. The bill was criticized by the California Nations Indian Gaming Association (CNIGA). However, the association’s chairman, Steve Stallings said that the committee should’ve used the hearing to discuss it.
