On the 26th of March, eight games will be held between the teams which haven’t qualified yet for Euro 2020. Bulgaria will host Hungary, the winner of the game will meet either Iceland or Romania. Let’s see Bulgaria vs Hungary odds, which team has more chances to represent their country at the Euros.
20 teams have already qualified for the Euro 2020 after finishing in the first two places in their qualifying groups. But four more places are still available for the European Championships, which celebrates its 60th birthday. For the first time, the remaining places were not decided on finishing places during the qualification. Now the results of the Nations League were crucial. Both teams, Bulgaria and Hungary appeared in League C but didn’t win their groups. So they are very lucky to still have the chance to take part in the play-offs, after filling in the places in League A.

Even online sportsbooks in Bulgaria give smaller odds for the Hungarian team’s win, 2.20. compared to Bulgaria’s 3.25. On the FIFA ranking, there are only 7 places between the two teams, Hungary is 52nd, Bulgaria is in the 59th place. But if we check the two teams’ recent results and form, Hungary looks like the better team. As they qualified for the last European Championship in France back in 2016 and even reached the last 16, where they lost against Belgium.
They couldn’t repeat the same success during the qualification for the 2018 World Cup, after finishing outside of the qualifying places. But under new manager, Marco Rossi who was appointed in 2018, the team seems to be in a better form again. Even though Hungary finished only in the fourth place in their European qualifying group, at one point they were leading it ahead of Croatia and Wales.
Bulgaria’s chances
Bulgarian football had better days, their team reached the semi-final in the 1994 World Cup under the leadership of Hristo Stoichkov. But after the Golden Generation retired, the level of their football declined. They haven’t been able to qualify for any major tournaments since 2004. During this qualification period, they weren’t brilliant either. They finished fourth in Group A behind England, the Czech Republic, and even Kosovo.
They lost a friendly game against Belarus last week, which was their seventh defeat from their last nine games. But we shouldn’t forget that they will play at home, which is always an advantage. What’s more, Hungary is not doing too great on away games without the support of their fanatic fans. So Bulgaria will have a chance to win the game, as we can see this in the Bulgaria vs Hungary odds. As you can’t find too big a difference between the two teams regarding which one will go through. The odds are 2.25 for the Bulgarian team and 1.65 for Hungary to play in the play-off final. To learn more about the odds, just read our latest review about the Unibet sportsbook.
