PokerStars celebrated the Sunday Storm competition’s third anniversary with an incredible $1 million prize pool.
As part of last Sunday’s promotion, the buy-in was set as low as $11. Professional poker players from across the world rushed to join the special tournament, to get a share of the $1 million prize pool. PokerStars brought their tournament to a whole new level and according to the latest gambling news, the event turned out to be a huge success.
More than 110,000 poker players (118,716 to be more precise) signed up for the multi-table competition. Even a few PokerStars pros got to sit down at the anniversary table, so participants had a chance to play against big names, such as Isaac Haxton and Joe Cada.
From $11 to $110,000
By the time registrations were closed, the prize pool had reached $1,187,160 and the top prize was an impressive $115,823 in cash. Even with some of the top players competing, the finale was quite surprising and saw some less familiar names competing for the title.
By the end of the tournament, British players were dominating the game. Users “rosscleverly” and “XMERCILESS”, regulars at the online poker site in the UK
, decided to play for all the money. The final cash prize went to “rosscleverly”, who managed to turn his $11 buy-in into an amazing $115,823 win.
