Renowned British sportsbook Betfair once again shows how serious it is about sports with the boxing sponsorship.
Betfair announced the extension of its existing partnership with the British Amateur Boxing Association (BABA). The sportsbook operating in full compliance with British gambling laws will continue to sponsor young and promising British athletes.
The terms of the agreement stretch to sponsorship of both men and women’s Great Britain Boxing teams. The sportsbook plans to host a series of media promotional events as well as several promotions for those wishing to bet on sports in United Kingdom.
The goal of the promotions is to raise awareness of the Betfair partnership, under the terms of which the online sports betting destination has been labeled as BABA’s Official Gaming Partner.
According to United Kingdom gambling news the original sponsorship deal between BABA and Betfair was started late last year with the sportsbook’s sponsorship of the GB Amateur Boxing Championships, which took place at York Hall in London .
Executive chairman of BABA, Derek Mapp, had the following comments: “Betfair’s decision to extend its relationship with GB Boxing is a sign of its confidence in both the GB Boxing team and the health of the amateur sport in this country where it is delivering success at both the grassroots and the elite level.”
Five members of the Great Britain Boxing team have already qualified for the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games. Six team members enjoy top five rankings in the world, each in their respective weight categories.
