After capturing some talented players in the transfer market, Burnley is aiming to surprise everyone in the Premier League despite their chances of success being very low.
After competing in the second tier division of English football (Football League Championship), Burnley earned promotion to the big league. As soon as they knew they were set to enter the Premier League, the club started looking for players with potential and that could help them stay in the competition beyond the current season.
The Clarets signed midfielder Matt Taylor, defender Steven Reid and goalkeeper Matt Gilks all on free transfers. The club also bought attacker Lukas Jutikiewicz from Middlesbrough, midfielder Michael Kightly form Stoke and forward Marvin Sordell from Bolton.
Sportsbooks don’t have high hopes for Burnley
The young manager Sean Dyche, who has been in charge of the club since 2012, believes that Burnley has potential to stay in the Premier League. Mobile betting provider Bet365 on the other hand disagrees with him. According to Bet365, Burnley is the favorite to be relegated back to Football League Championship with odds of 1.57 (4/7).
The Clarets are also outsiders when it comes to their chances of being ranked the best newcomer. Their odds stand at 5.00 (4/1) for the top newcomer wager.
