True passion cannot be broken even by such terrible events as someone losing one of their limbs. Thanks to the efforts of professionals, today, there are many types of solutions for those who underwent amputation due to illness or accident. Moreover, there are more and more modern prosthetic limbs that are helping the user to live a full life and to achieve incredible results. It costs a lot and is unique, yet the designer prosthesis does not count luxury item anymore. Anyway, you can’t put a price tag on a happier life. It’s a great help in accepting the equality of people with reduced mobility. Paralympics know this the best. There are plenty of ways to bet on athletes with prosthetic limbs!
An amputation does not necessarily mean the end of an athlete’s career. Paralympic athletes and recreational athletes with artificial limbs prove this every day. They never cease to amaze us! The requirements for a sports prosthesis are high. On the one hand, it must be stable yet light and compact. Be it jogging, sprinting, jumping, or Nordic walking, nothing is impossible. Ambitious recreational and professional athletes who had a leg amputation, in particular, benefit from this. So much so that you can bet on athletes with prosthetic limbs.
Bet on athletes with prosthetic limbs – Blake Leeper
Blake Leeper won a silver medal in 400 meters and a bronze medal in 200 meters in the 2012 London Paralympics. The 32 years old runner had to face many obstacles during his career, like two years ago before the Tokyo Olympics. The WA, World Athletics, organizes every international athletic competition, like the World Championship, between July 15th and 24th. By the way, you can check out the betting scene at 22Bet Sportsbook, but back to Leeper. The WA denied his request to compete in the Olympics instead of the Paralympics for the second time.
The problem was that he had prosthetic limbs by then. They claim that the mechanic tools give him an unfair advantage against the other runners since the carbon fiber limbs are fifteen minutes longer than real legs. So he could not attend the Olympics last year because the WA thinks that there is a direct connection between the length of the legs and the running speed, but he keeps on fighting. No doubt he is a fighter, and we will hear about him a lot in the future as a pro athlete with prosthetic limbs!
Markus Rehm
Markus Rehm is an inspiring figure in the athletic world. When he was 14, while wakeboarding, a motorboat’s propeller caught his right leg. If Rehm did not wear the life west, he would have died. Yet, he made the best of the situation and became a professional athlete with prosthetic limbs, you can bet on! Rehm became successful in long jumping and sprinting. He won a gold medal in the London Paralympic Games in the long jump, and ever since then, he keeps breaking and setting records. For example, he set the record in the T44 parasport category with 840 centimeters in 2015. Check out his career at online sportsbook sites in Germany!

Hugh Herr from Boston also didn’t idle for long after losing his legs precisely because of his passion. The passionate mountain climber underwent amputation due to frostbite injuries, but since he works with biomechatronics, he didn’t sit around pitying himself for long. Herr has developed artificial legs specifically for himself that, as he claims, make climbing much easier and faster. He has made the limbs sharp at the foot, while the telescopic legs make it easier to move during sports. Check him out at 22Bet!
Already in 1996, American fashion model, Aimee Mullins, excelled at the Paralympics. She broke world records, running 100 and 200 meters with artificial limbs. The 46-year-old model has never considered herself less or disadvantaged. She looks at the limbs as more like fashion items and accessories rather than anything else. So, there are dozens of different pairs of artificial legs lined up in her closet. Mullins lost her limbs as a child due to a congenital disorder.
Athletes with prothesis
The retired Marine rowed across the Atlantic Ocean in just two months and two days with a real and an artificial leg. Lee Spencer from the UK believes that there is a need for activities like this so that people don’t pity people with disabilities, as they are just capable of doing the same things as those who have all their own limbs. Spencer lost his leg in an accident in 2014 but still managed to break the record of a Norwegian athlete, Stein Hoff, who covered the 5,600-kilometer distance between Portugal and France in 96 days, so just over three months. Hoff wasn’t disabled, so it’s a double success.
South African Oscar Pistorius didn’t give up either, as he beat a horse in a 200-meter run in 2012. The then 26-year-old sprinter could stand on the podium in the Paralympics six times by then but also qualified for the London Olympics, making him the first athlete to complete an Olympic short-distance with athletes without disabilities. At the end of the competition, the young runner was able to add not only a silver but also a gold medal to his awards.
You might have heard about Pistorius in a very different way. The world couldn’t believe the news about the para-athlete. He killed his girlfriend in 2013! Check out other pro athletes who killed someone! Previously, two other Olympian champions tried to outrun a horse, Jesse Owens, in 1936 and Lindford Christie, in 1992, but they failed. There are constant debates over whether prosthetic limbs provide an unfair advantage or not?
Cheating or not?
Studies prove that there are, maybe too many, advantages of prosthetic limbs over real ones. The carbon-fiber prosthetic limbs give the athlete an advantage over their rivals. The artificial legs are able to work for a long time without the athlete growing tired. This means that the calf and ankle muscles, which do most of the work during the run, do not exhaust themselves, so an athlete competing with a prosthesis may have an advantage. According to the studies with the examined artificial legs fixed under the knee, the runner regains significantly more force and momentum from the ground than an athlete with legs, and this added energy is nearly three times greater.
In addition, with the prosthesis, the average energy loss during the run is only 9.3 percent, while with the real ones, the rate is 41.4 percent, so the mechanical advantage is more than 30 percent for the prosthetic limbs. As you can see, the structure of the artificial limbs makes it possible for the athletes to win against a runner with average legs, but when they compete with each other, the chances are equal. There is no cheating going on, so you can bet on athletes with prosthetic limbs!
