As Formula One struggles to be interesting for anyone but accountants, statisticians and the advocates of health & safety who are slowly choking the life out of the sport, the future of motor racing is quietly gearing up for another globe trotting season of pollution free grand prix in some of the most famous cities in the world, but if you’re going to bet on Formula E at BetVictor just which of the drivers is has the best chance of taking home the title this time round? We take a look.
- Maro Engel – 100/1
- Tom Blomqvist – 50/1
- Neel Jani – 50/1
- Luca Filippi – 40/1
- Edoardo Mortara – 40/1
- Mitch Evans – 33/1
- Jerome Dambrosio – 33/1
- Antonio Felix da Costa – 25/1
- Andre Lotterer – 25/1
- Alex Lynn – 25/1
There is nothing like the noise, the smell and the utter predictability of Formula One if you like your motor sport to reinforce the laws of budgetary accountability. Spending your way to a title is just how the top tier of motor racing works these days, and worse has been infected with the disease of health & safety that slowly erodes excitement of a sport that was never meant to be safe for anyone involved and whilst you shouldn’t bet on Formula E to be any less safe you can wager it’ll be a lot less predictable.
The slow inevitability of Formula E’s rise to succession of the F1 crown as being the zenith of motor racing gains yet more momentum this year with big name drivers and big name manufacturers all quietly jumping on the band wagon those of us who like to bet on sports in the UK have to wonder how many more seasons it’ll be before we can bet on Formula E and back Ferrari or Mercedes to win races because it’s becoming obvious a lot of manufacturers are doubling down on the future of electric racing.

You might not notice at first glance but there are plenty of tell tale signs that the big industry players are looking ever more favourably on the electric racers, a wholesale bet on Formula E really being the future of motor sport. Take the Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport team, whose name now puts Audi at the start reflecting their greater role, or the MS Amlin Andretti outfit who now have MS&AD Andretti Formula E as their title because BMW are getting involved, alongside the likes of Renault, Citroen and Jaguar.
Likewise a quick glance at the names and plaudits of the drivers joining the sport shows it’s not just firms who bet on Formula E being the way forward. A1 champion and 2016 World Endurance Champion Neel Jani joins Dragon Racing, GP3 Champion Alex Lynn arrives at DS Virgin Racing, Formula Nippon Champion Andre Lotterer hoves to at Techeetah and DTM driver Tom Blomqvist will driver for the Andretti crew and anyone in the UK gambling news like that is unimportant should wake up.
This Season Why Not Bet On Formula E At BetVictor?
- Nicolas Prost – 20/1
- Nick Heidfeld – 20/1
- Jean-Eric Vergne – 15/1
- Daniel Abt – 16/1
- Sam Bird – 14/1
- Oliver Turvey – 14/1
- Nelson Piquet – 6/1
- Felix Rosenqvist – 6/1
- Lucas Di Grassi – 5/2
- Sebastien Buemi – 9/4
The confidence in the sport moving forward is also reflected in some of the cities that have lined up to host races this year. Sure there’s still New York and Paris, Berlin and Rome, but if there’s one name on the roster that make everyone look twice it was the entrance of the Swiss with a race to be held in Zurich next June. The Swiss loathe motor sport (too loud, too polluting) and haven’t hosted a motor sport circuit event since 1955! The idea that they are now willing to bet on Formula E not spoiling their precious nation is astonishing.
So everyone else is putting a bet on Formula E and you should too over at BetVictor and the like where, for the 2017-18 season the odds are in on who’ll be champion with the front runners like Sam Bird and Oliver Turvey getting 14/1, Nelson Piquet and Felix Rosenquvist sharing 6/1 chances and last year’s champion Lucas Di Grassi just ahead of them at 5/2. The favorite however came home in second place last year and if you’re going to take advantage of UK gambling laws to bet on Formula E a punt on Sebastien Buemi at 9/4 might be no bad wager.
