Spanish Pablo Carreno Busta and American Frances Tiafoe are the top favorites
The 2021 ATP Winston-Salem Open is held this week, between 21 – 28 August in North Carolina. The ATP 250 tournament offers the last opportunity to play ahead of the 2021 US Open which starts next week. Spanish world No12 Pablo Carreno Busta is the top favorite in the ATP Winston-Salem winner odds who defeated Novak Djokovic in the bronze match in Tokyo.
The ATP 250 tournament was held first in Long Island and New Haven before relocating to its current location, Winston-Salem in North Carolina. Since 2011 the open is played at the newly designed facility at Wake Forest University. It won the 2016 ATP Tour 250 Tournament of the Year award and has been a favorite ever since. Players return to the event after the cancellation of last year’s tournament, but the defending champion, Hubert Hurkacz won’t attend this year. Unlike former world ranking leader Andy Murray, the former world No3 Marin Cilic and current top players. Like Dan Evans, Pablo Carreno Busta, Marton Fucsovics and Francis Tiafoe.
ATP Winston-Salem Winner Odds Favor the Spanish Top Player
Pablo Carreno Busta has achieved his greatest success this summer in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where he won the bronze medal. What is even more remarkable, that the Spanish player defeated world No1 Novak Djokovic in the bronze match. Carreno Busta also won his 6th ATP Tour title this season in the Hamburg European Open. He seems to be in great form after also reaching the quarter-final of the 2021 Cincinnati Masters. While he has already won in Salem in 2016 and got his first ATP Tour victory. Now online sportsbooks in Spain offer the smallest odds, 3.40 for his second title win here.
One of his biggest rivals can be the local favorite, Frances Tiafoe who has the odds of 4.75 in the ATP Winston-Salem winner odds. The American won his only ATP Tour title back in 2018 in the Delray Beach Open. Now the world No51 can fight for another victory on home soil. He has achieved some great results this season. Like defeating world No4 Stefanos Tsitsipas in the first round of Wimbledon. Or winning the 2021 Nottingham Open Challenger in June. But the 23-year-old player also suffered early exits in other tournaments this season. Tiafoe just defeated Andy Murray in the second round of this tournament though. And he is also favored to win against Brazilian Thiago Monteiro in the next round.
Other Possible Winners
Daniel Evans plays in the tournament through a wildcard, just like Carreno Busta. He is the third seed of the open and one of the favorites of the bookmakers. The best British player has reached 25th place in the world ranking this year, which is his career-best position. Thanks to his first ATP Tour title victory in the 2021 Murray River Open in Melbourne. He reached his first Masters 1000 semi-final in Monte-Carlo this year after defeating Djokovic for the first time. Evans also got to the quarter-finals in the Queen’s Club Championship but had to withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics. Now his odds for another ATP Tour victory are 10.00.
Online gambling sites in Spain mention a young talent, Carlos Alcaraz with the odds of 13.00 to get his second ATP Tour to win. The 18-year-old Spanish player is one of the biggest talents of the sport. He is in 54th place in the world rankings. Alcaraz only made his ATP Tour debut last season, but he already got his first ATP Tour title in the 2021 Croatia Open. He also reached the third round of the 2021 French Open after defeating Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili. He will meet Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in the next round here where both players have the same odds, 1.90 to win the match on bet365.
