After experiencing long awaited success by clinching the FA Cup last season, Arsenal adds great firepower to build on momentum.
After finally securing their first trophy since winning the FA Cup in 2005, Arsenal will once again look to compete with the big boys of the Premier League. Their last season’s 4th place finish meant that they have to go through a qualifying stage to reach the Champions League.
Following FA Cup success, manager Arsene Wenger decided to put pen to paper on a new three-year contract, which at the end of the deal will make him 21 years at the helm of the club. This will provide assurance to the players and the vats support of the club.
Arsenal make promising signings
The Gunners were also quite active in the transfer market as they finally seem to have realized that not all hopes can be tied to youth players. Winger Alexis Sanchez was brought in from Barcelona for around GBP 30-35 million, a player that will definitely come in handy as he known how to assist and score goals.
The defensive area was also addressed by purchasing Calum Chambers from Southampton for GBP 16 million. Additionally, the Gunners have goalkeeper David Ospina from Nice, which will provide them with the shot-stopper they were long searching for.
Many prominent online sportsbooks in the UK gave the Gunners promising odds. Arsenal have been assigned odds of 7.00 (6/1) by Bet365 to win their first Premier League trophy after the 2004 “Invincibles” season.
