Christmas Day saw a record-breaking activation of iOS and Android devices according to some analysts.
This holiday season a record-breaking number of new smartphones and tablets have been sold. Flurry analysts report a considerable increase in activation of devices powered by both Android and iOS.
From December 1 to 20, over 4 million brand new iOS and Android devices have become active, but that figure jumped to 17.4 million on Christmas Day paving way for a huge base of potential new mobile gambling clients in United Kingdom and worldwide.
This year more tablets have been activated than smartphones: 51 percent over 49. Various online retailers including Amazon have confirmed strong demand for tablets with sales breaking even the most optimistic forecasts and monthly average projections.
Naturally, the huge spike in tablets and smartphones sales was followed by an increase in app purchase and download. The same analysts report over 328 million Android and iOS applications downloaded during the festive period, a nice increase from 86 million figure last year (which already was three times as much as in 2010).
United Kingdom gambling news learned that the most popular apps downloaded and installed onto tablets and smartphones were Youtube, Instagram, Google Maps, Skype for iPad, Flowfree and Subway Surfers.
Industry experts anticipate an increase in mobile gambling activities in compliance with British gambling laws, following a huge surge in devices sales.
2013 is bound to bring fierce competition in mobile gaming and media sectors with the industry enjoying a boom in development and innovation. Brand new technologies and products appear on the market with never-before-seen frequency, which can only mean better and cheaper devices and apps for consumers.
