Amaya resolved a previously disclosed tax dispute by paying EUR 5,9 million to Italian authorities. According to Italian gambling news, one of Amaya’s subsidiaries owed approximately EUR 85 million from operations between 2009-2014. In a press release, Amaya confirmed that the subsidiary is PokerStars , one of the most famous online poker rooms.
Two important questions before the merger
As part of the settlement, PokerStars does not owe any additional taxes for the 2014 tax year. Amaya has paid the amount from the escrow fund, established under the merger agreement between Amaya and PokerStars . Besides PokerStars, Amaya owns Full Tilt, BetStars, StarsDraft and numerous poker tours, competitions and connected brands.
