Tennis players from the top 20 on the WTA world rankings will compete at the Tennis Club Portoroz, in Portoroz, Slovenia this week, between the 12-18 September. Italian Jasmine Paolini won the event last year but she will have a tough task to defend her title. The 2022 WTA Portoroz winner odds mention two Grand Slam champions, Elena Rybakina and Emma Raducanu as the biggest favorites. But other in-form players like Beatriz Haddad Maia and Alize Cornet can also do well.
The 8th edition of the WTA Slovenia Open is held this week (also known as the Zavarovalnica Sava Portoroz) in Portoroz. The tournament became a WTA 250 event last season, attracting more top players to take part in it. This year we can find even bigger names in its field from the 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina. To the 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu who is the top seed of the tournament. But the defending champion, Italian Jasmine Paolini will also compete again. The hard-court tournament is a great opportunity for European players who were out early in this year’s US Open to get back to play. And to win 280 ranking points along with the €26,770 prize money.
2022 WTA Portoroz Winner Odds Mention Raducanu and Rybakina as Main Favorites
Elena Rybakina won her first Grand Slam title at this year’s Wimbledon Championship. She knocked out players like Bianca Andreescu and Simona Halep on her way to the final. Where she won against the world No2 Ons Jabeur. The 23-year-old Kazakh player achieved her career-best ranking with her victory but hasn’t got such results since. She was out in the first round of the US Open after losing against qualifier Clara Burel. Rybakina is still favored by online sportsbooks in Slovenia to win this tournament. She has an odds of 6.00 to get her third WTA Tour title.
Another Grand Slam champion, 19-year-old British player, Emma Raducanu has been having a tough year with no major results. Her best achievements have been getting to the quarter-finals in Stuttgart and in Washington. But she was also knocked out by Alize Cornet in the first round of the 2022 US Open where she was the defending champion. Raducanu might take revenge on the French player in the semi-final here if both of them will get there. The world No11 is the top seed in Slovenia and another big favorite according to the 2022 WTA Portoroz winner odds. With odds of 6.60 to lift the trophy.
Chances of in-form players and the defending champion
Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia had her breakthrough season this year after entering the top 15 and playing in her first WTA 1000 final. Even though she lost in the Canadian Open final against Simona Halep, it was a huge success for the 26-year-old. She also won in Nottingham and Birmingham in the summer and reached the semi-final in Eastbourne. The second seed of the tournament has an odds of 7.30 to win her third WTA title. Australian Ajla Tomljanovic has been having a great season too. After she reached her second Wimbledon and first US Open quarter-final. In New York, she knocked out Serena Williams in the third round which must have been a sweet-and-sour victory. The 29-year-old hasn’t had any victory since 2019, now her odds to win are 10.00.
Online gambling sites in Slovenia offer the same odds for the victory of Alize Cornet. The French player got to the quarter-final in the Australian Open which was her first Grand Slam QF. She also reached the semi-finals in Bad Homburg and Cleveland but hasn’t got any win since 2018. Unlike Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova who won her second WTA title in the 2022 Rosmalen Open in the Netherlands. The world No28 also reached the semi-final in Madrid but was out in the second round in all Grand Slams. Her odds to finish on top now are 11.00. While the defending champion, Jasmine Paolini’s odds to defend her title are 26.00. on 22Bet.
