The 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships is held this weekend, between 18-20 March in Belgrade, Serbia. In one of the top events of the event, in the men’s 60m, the Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs can go head-to-head with the indoor world champion Cristian Coleman. The 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championship odds favor the American sprinter but it is promised to be a great race just like the women’s 400m.
The World Athletics Indoor Championships returns back after a four-year-break following the cancellation of the previously scheduled event in 2020. 10 winners from 2018 will try to defend their titles in Belgrade. Including the champion of the pentathlon, Katarina Johnson-Thompson. The British athlete hasn’t competed this season yet, so will be interesting to see her performance. Just like her compatriot’s, Andrew Pozzi’s run who is the men’s 60m hurdles defending champion. Many people will focus on the men’s and women’s 60m finals along with the women’s 400m. Where two-time Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo will compete against the rising star of the sport, Femke Bol. Another great moment of the championship can be the men’s pole vault event with Mondo Duplantis aiming for his second world record of the month.
2022 World Athletics Indoor Championship Odds for Sprint Events
The men’s 60m final is one of the most awaited events of the championship where the defending champion, Christian Coleman is the top favorite. Coleman is also the reigning world champion who couldn’t race in the Olympics due to his ban following his three missed drug tests. Now online sportsbooks in Serbia offer the odds of 1.15 for his win, but it might not be as simple as his odds suggest. As the American will face the current 100m Olympic champion, Marcell Jacobs. The Italian caused one of the biggest surprises of the Games last summer after taking Usain Bolt’s crown. He continued to race afterward on indoor events and won four out of five races. Now his odds to win again are 5.50.
In the women’s 60m, Polish Ewa Swoboda is the top favorite according to the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championship odds. She has been dominating the 2021/22 season and has the odds of 1.45 to win the gold in Belgrade. Swoboda didn’t compete in the Olympics due to an injury but she won the gold in the 2019 European Indoor Championship. One of her biggest rivals can be the bronze medalist from the previous world championship, Mujinga Kambundji. The Swiss athlete was 6th in the Olympics in 100m and has the odds of 6.75 to become world champion. American runner Marybeth Sant-Price is also in good form and can also compete for the gold medal.
Predictions for other top events
The women’s 400m can bring an exciting race between Shaunae Miller-Uibo and Femke Bol. The Bahamian is the two-time Olympic champion of the event but hasn’t run on the World Indoor Championship since 2014. There she won the bronze medal but that would be a disappointing result this time. Online gambling sites in Serbia offer the odds of 2.50 for her victory. But the Dutch rising star, Femke Bol has an even smaller odds to win the event with 2.15. The 22-year-old won the bronze medal in 400m hurdles in Tokyo. And the gold in 400m in the 2021 European Indoor Championships. She ran the second-fastest time of the last 15 years recently so we are likely to see a great battle between them.

Serbian fans hope for a gold medal in the women’s long jump, with local favorite Ivana Vuleta having the best chance of winning. Especially in the absence of the 2020 Olympic champion, German Malaika Mihambo. Vuleta is the defending champion of the event with the best result of this year and the odds of 1.85. The bronze medalist in Tokyo, Nigerian Ese Brume can also compete for the gold though with the odds of 3.24 to get it. While the men’s pole vault competition is promised to be another thrilling event. With the Olympic champion and world record holder Mondo Duplantis fighting for the gold along with his old college rival, Chris Nilsen. The Swedish star has just set up his latest world record, 6,19m in Belgrade. But the American is in great form and jumped an indoor American record 6,05m recently. So it can be a great battle between them in spite of Duplantis being the heavy favorite of the bookmakers.
