Fabio Quartararo is the defending champion and one of the top favorites again
-
Italian riders Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini will also aim for the victory
The eighth race of the 2022 MotoGP season, the Gran Premio d’Italia Oakley is held this Sunday, on the 29th of May at the Mugello circuit. Fabio Quartararo won the race here last year and he is in the top favorites again. Along with Italian favorites Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini who are both mentioned in the 2022 MotoGP Italian race winner odds.
Riders will head to the middle of Tuscany in Italy this weekend to compete at the famous Mugello Circuit. The championship is getting even more exciting following the French Grand Prix where Enea Bastianini won. The Italian moved up to third place in the overall standings, and he is just 8 points behind the current leader, Fabio Quartararo. The defending champion won the Italian GP last year and will try to do the same in order to strengthen his lead. While last year’s runner-up, Francesco Bagnaia is hoping for a good comeback after his retirement in Le Mans. Looks like Italian fans can still hope for a home victory. Even after the retirement of their legend, Valentino Rossi, who won the Italian GP on 9 occasions.
2022 MotoGP Italian Race Winner Odds Mention Last Season’s Top Drivers as Favorites
The 2021 MotoGP champion, Fabio Quartararo still leads this season’s championship, though he only has a four-point lead ahead of Aleix Espargaro. The French rider finished fourth in his home Grand Prix two weeks ago but will aim for a better result this weekend. Yamaha has been strong in recent years and won lots of races with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo at this circuit. Now Quartararo can continue this list and won his second race at Mugello. It can be also his second victory of the season following his success in Portugal. The 2022 MotoGP Italian race winner odds mention him as a top favorite with the odds of 4.00.
But online sportsbooks in Italy offer the same odds for the victory of Francesco Bagnaia who is currently in 7th place in the championship. After a poor start to the season, the Ducati rider won in Spain. But he crashed out in France in the previous race in spite of starting from pole position. Bagnaia seemed fast though and can win again on home soil. But he will need to concentrate more as in the last two Italian races he also had to retire. His compatriot, Enea Bastianini will also fight for the victory after being in top form. The Gresini Racing rider overtook Bagnaia in the last race and got his third win of the season. His odds to win again are 4.96.
Espargaro, Miller, and Marquez in Other Favorites
Aleix Espargaro has been also having a great season so far after finally winning his first MotoGP race in Argentina. While he also finished third in the last three races. The 32-year-old is one of the most experienced riders in the field with no real success so far. But this can be his year if he and his Aprilia team can keep up this level. It will be a home race for the Italian team which has never won any race here in the top category. Now online gambling sites in Italy offer the odds of 6.00 for Espargaro’s victory.
Bagnaia’s teammate at Ducati, Jack Miller also wants to improve on his record in Mugello. Where his best result has been a 6th-place finish last year. The Australian was second in France and stands in fifth place in the championship. He could be in an even better position without his two retirements in Qatar and Portugal. Miller is positive that he can fight for the win in Italy which is also his team’s home race. He has the odds of 6.50 for that on 22Bet.
While the 6-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez would also love to return to winning. Honda doesn’t seem to find the space with all riders struggling in the season. Marquez is still the best of them. But he is only in 10th place without any podium finish. The Spanish rider hopes to break this circle and win on the circuit where he got the victory in 2014. WIth the odds of 9.90 to do so.
