HBO family drama Succession received the most nominations for this year’s Emmy Awards with 25. These nominations include the main categories like the best drama, lead actor, and supporting actor in drama series categories. Another previous winner, Apple + comedy series Ted Lasso followed Succession with 20 nominees.  Netflix is represented by its most popular series, Stranger Things, Ozark, and Squid Game.

The latter can make history and become the first non-English-language show to win the award. The lead actor of the series has been nominated for the Emmy in the drama category which was won by Josh O’Connor last year. He played the Prince of Wales in the Netflix series The Crown. While Ted Lasso’s Jason Sudeikis won the award in 2021 in the comedy category. Let’s see the top favorites now.

2022 Emmy Lead Actor Odds Slightly Favor Brian Cox in the Drama Series Category

Brian Cox plays the patriarch of the Roy family in the HBO series Succession, who established the Waystar Royko., a media and entertainment conglomerate. The 76-year-old Scottish actor has already received a Golden Globe and a nomination for the Emmy for his performance.

Now Cox can win his first lead actor Emmy award following his win in the supporting actor category for Nuremberg back in 2001. Online sportsbooks in South Korea mention him as the top favorite with the odds of 1.85. But the main actor from the Netflix top series Squid Games, Lee Jung-Jae follows him closely in the 2022 Emmy Lead Actor odds with 1.94.

Jung-Jae plays the main character, Seong Gi-hun who is trying to earn money by taking part in a special game to pay out his debts. The South Korean actor has received several awards for his previous roles. But now he can win the Emmy for his role in the series.

The 2020 winner of this category, Jeremy Strong is also among the nominees this year. He plays Kendall Roy in Succession, the oldest son of Logan Roy who wants to take over the company from his father. Strong also won a Golden Globe for this role this year. And has the odds of 5.00 to win the Emmy again.

Top Favorites in The Comedy Series Category

Last year’s winner, Jason Sudeikis, the lead actor in the HBO series Ted Lasso can win the award this year again. The series is still very popular with the jury as we can see from its 20 nominations. And Sudeikis is still great as the American college football coach working for an English soccer team.

The American actor has won the Golden Globe and the Critics’ Choice Best Actor awards in 2021 and 2022. His odds to win his second Emmy in a row are 1.85. Same odds are offered for the victory of Bill Hader who plays in another HBO series, Barry. The black comedy crime drama is about a hitman who joins an acting class and tries to become a full-time entertainer.

Hader also won the Emmy twice before for this role. While he was also nominated as a member of the Saturday Night Live show. Online gambling sites in South Korea only mention the two legends, Steve Martin and Martin Short in the 3rd and 4th place.  Both actors play in Hulu’s top series, Only Murders in the Building in the roles of a semi-retired actor and a struggling director.

It might be surprising, but Martin has only won one Emmy so far, and that was for writing. While Short has two Emmy awards, one for writing and one as a member of a variety special. Their odds to win now in the lead actor category are 9.00 and 11.00 on 22Bet.
