Justin Thomas won his second major title last weekend at the PGA Championship. He is the top favorite in the 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge predictions ahead of other top 10 players. Like the current world No1 Scottie Scheffler or former tournament winner Jordan Spieth. The 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge is held between 26-29 May at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas.
The Colonial National Invitation or as it’s known now, the Charles Schwab Challenge was founded 76 years ago, in 1946. The tournament has unique features like awarding a Scottish tartan plaid jacket to the winners. Or the Wall of the Champions, with the names of all winners since 1946. Ben Hogan won here the most times, on five occasions.
While among current players, Phil Mickelson got the most wins with two victories. But Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, and Kevin Na have also won here before. Jason Kokrak is the defending champion after winning last year’s event. He is competing again, but his victory would be a surprise now. Unlike the win of Justin Thomas who arrives in Texas as the winner of last weekend’s PGA Championship.
2022 Charles Schwab Challenge predictions favor Thomas and Spieth
Justin Thomas got his 15th PGA Tour win last weekend which was also his second PGA Championship title. Now the world No5 can continue his winning streak in Texas on his third appearance at the tournament. Last year he finished only 40th while in the previous year he was T10. Now online sportsbooks in the US offer the smallest odds, +1100.00 for his victory. Thomas was an underdog at the PGA but managed to win his second major title from seven strokes deficit. Surely this great comeback will motivate the 29-year-old American for other great results.
The 2022 Charles Schwab Challenge predictions also mention a former event winner, Jordan Spieth among the main favorites with the odds of +1200.00. The world No9 won here in 2016 and also finished three times as a runner-up. In one of his favorite courses, Spieth can aim for his 14th PGA Tour win. It would be also his second victory of the season after his win at the 2022 RBC Heritage.
Even though he finished only T34 last weekend, the three-time major champion can bounce back now. Just like the world No1, Scottie Scheffler who didn’t even make the cut last weekend. But we shouldn’t forget that he won the 2022 Masters this season and took the lead on the world rankings. Now his odds to win in Texas are also +1200.00.
Chances of other top 10 players like Morikawa and Hovland
Collin Morikawa was the runner-up in this tournament in 2020 while he finished 14th last year. The two-time major champion hasn’t got any win since last year’s Open Championship. But he was close to winning at this year’s Genesis Invitational. Though his more recent results haven’t been too promising, Morikawa can get a better result now. His odds to get his 6th PGA Tour win are +1600.00. Similar odds are offered for another top 10 player, Viktor Hovland who won the 2022 Dubai Desert Classic at the beginning of the year. He also finished T2 at the Arnold Palmer and T4 at the Genesis Invitationals.
Online gambling sites in the US offer the odds of +2800.00 for the victory of Will Zalatoris, the runner-up at the 2022 PGA Championship. The 25-year-old is in great form this season after also finishing second at the Farmers Insurance Open and in the top 6 out of his last five appearances. He only finished T59 here last year but can try again to get his first PGA Tour win. The 2019 Colonial winner, Kevin Na has good memories from this course after getting his third PGA Tour win here. Since then he got two more victories but he hasn’t been in top form this year. Now his odds to perform well again are +3500.00 on BetOnline.
