Following the 2022 French Open, players start their preparation for the next major Grand Slam of the season, the 2022 Wimbledon Championship. One of the first events on grass is the 2022 BOSS Open in Stuttgart held between 6 – 12 June. Last year’s winner, Marin Cilic won’t compete this time but we can still find several top players in the field. Like the world No5 Stefanos Tsitsipas who is the top favorite in the 2022 ATP Stuttgart winner odds.
Last weekend Rafael Nadal claimed his 22nd Grand Slam title in Paris after winning the 2022 French Open. We are still to see if he will continue his career and play in the next major tournament, Wimbledon. But the rest of the ATP field is already aiming for the third Grand Slam of the season. A great opportunity to practice on grass is the BOSS Open in Stuttgart, which is one of the oldest tournaments on the schedule. We can find some of the biggest players in its previous winners from Bjorn Borg to Andre Agassi, while Nadal has also won here three times. Marin Cilic is the defending champion after beating Felix Auger-Aliassime in 2021 final. None of them will compete this year, unlike other top players.
2022 ATP Stuttgart winner odds favor Tsitsipas ahead of the 2019 winner
Stefanos Tsitsipas makes his debut in Stuttgart where he is the top favorite to win the title according to online sportsbooks in Germany. They offer the odds of 4.94 for his second victory of the season. Even though the grass is not his strongest surface and he hasn’t won any race on it yet. But the Greek world No4 has been in good form in the season after winning the 2022 Monte-Carlo Masters and reaching the final in Rome. Tsitsipas surprisingly was knocked out by Holger Rune in the fourth round at the Roland Garros. But he can bounce back with a win in Stuttgart.
Just like Nick Kyrgios who hasn’t played since April and fell back to the 76th place in the world rankings. The Australian started the year well after winning the Australian Open in doubles and reaching the quarter-final in Indian Wells. Kyrgios is even stronger on grass though he hasn’t won any event on this surface yet. Now his odds to do so are 6.50. The 2022 ATP Stuttgart winner odds also mention the 2019 tournament winner, Matteo Berrettini as a big favorite. The Italian had to miss out a few months as well due to a right-hand surgery, but he is back now. The world No10 reached the final in last year’s Wimbledon and won at Queen’s Club. His odds to get his 6th ATP Tour title are 6.75.
Shapovalov, Hurkacz, and Murray can also go all the way
Denis Shapovalov also got a great result in last year’s Wimbledon. After he reached the semi-final of a Grand Slam for the first time. In 2022 he also got to the quarter-final in Melbourne and in Rome where he defeated Rafael Nadal. But the Canadian has been knocked out already in the first round in the French Open. The fourth seed in Stuttgart is looking for his second ATP Tour title with the odds of 6.90 to get it this weekend. The third seed of the tournament, Hubert Hurkacz follows him in the list of favorites. Online gambling sites in Germany offer the odds of 7.50. for his victory. The Polish world No13 enjoyed a successful clay season this year with nine wins and two quarter-final finishes in Monte-Carlo and Madrid.
He reached the fourth round in Paris where future finalist Casper Ruud stopped him. Hurkacz will make his second appearance in Stuttgart. He hopes to have a better result than last year though when he lost his opening match. The two-time Wimbledon champion, Andy Murray is unseeded in Stuttgart but he can certainly go all the way to the final. The former world No1 missed the clay season this year to concentrate on grass events. At the beginning of 2022 he has reached his first ATP final since 2019 in Sydney, though he lost there against Aslan Karatsev. Now Murray’s odds to get his 47th ATP Tour title in Germany are 14.00 on 22Bet.
