  • Medvedev and Nadal are the top favorites who can meet again in the semi-final

The men’s 2022 BNP Paribas Open or as it’s more known, the Indian Wells Masters is held between the 10th and 20th of March. Cameron Norrie is the defending champion after defeating Nikoloz Basilashvili in last year’s final. The 2022 ATP Indian Wells betting preview expects the two top players on the world rankings, Dimitrii Medvedev and Novak Djokovic in this year’s final. Of course, the Serbian will need a permit to play first.

This will be the 48th edition of the ATP Indian Wells Masters, played on hard courts at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California. The ATP Masters 1000 tournament is an important event in the Tour, with most of the top players taking part in it. Including the current world No1, Daniil Medvedev, and the 2022 Australian Open champion Rafael Nadal. Novak Djokovic’s case is similar to Melbourne. At the moment he is in the draw but his participation is still not confirmed. Djokovic and Roger Federer have the most wins with five victories, but Nadal has also managed to win here three times. Last year’s tournament had a surprising result though. With British Cameron Norrie and Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili reaching the final following the knockouts of all the favorites. But in 2022, we are more likely to see one of the top seeded players as the winner.

Medvedev and Nadal Are the Biggest Favorites in the 2022 ATP Indian Wells Betting Preview

As the situation of Novak Djokovic is still not clear, we won’t mention his chances, even though bookmakers do. (He is on the entry list but it’s still not clear if he can enter the country and play in the tournament.) So if we skip Djokovic, we can find the current world No1, Daniil Medvedev as the top favorite in the 2022 ATP Indian Wells betting preview. He is the top seed as well, with the odds of 3.50 to win his first title here. Medvedev has been in great form since winning his first Grand Slam title at the 2021 US Open. This season he reached the final of the 2022 Australian Open and the semi-final of the Mexican Open.

Both times he was defeated by Rafael Nadal. And the two players can meet again in the last four. With online sportsbooks in Spain offering the odds of 3.96 for Nadal’s title win. It would be the Spanish player’s 92nd title, an amazing number from an amazing athlete. With his latest Australian Open victory Nadal has the most men’s singles Grand Slam titles in history with 21. What is even more impressive is that he could win in spite of thinking about retiring a few months earlier. Looks like he managed to fully recover from his injuries and is in his best form again. Nadal has already won this tournament three times before, the last time in 2013. And following his recent form, he will be the man to beat.

Zverev, Tsitsipas, and Other New Gen Favorites

Alexander Zverev is a great player but often had anger issues on the court. Like it happened with him in the 2022 Acapulco Open. Where he was disqualified after aggressively hitting the umpire’s chair. While in the Australian Open Zverev only reached the fourth round due to losing against Denis Shapovalov. The German is the third seed of this tournament though and has the odds of 9.90 to win it. Last year the world No3 reached the quarterfinals here, but can go even further now.

Just like Stefanos Tsitsipas who will aim to win his first trophy this season. The Greek world No5 reached the semi-final of this year’s Australian Open. And also the final of the Rotterdam Open, where he lost against Felix Auger-Aliassime. Tsitsipas also got to the quarter-finals here last season and has the odds of 11.00 to win it.

Online gambling sites in Spain also mention Andrey Rublev in the favorites who has been in great form too. He won in Marseille and Dubai this year, obtaining his 9th and 10th ATP Tour title. The world No6 hasn’t won any Masters 1000 event yet, but it could be his next step. His odds to do it now are 20.00 on 22Bet. We also have to mention another inform player, Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime. The 21-year-old player was part of the winning Canadian team in ATP Cup and won his first ATP Tour title in Rotterdam. Great results from the youngster who can prove his talent in California next.
