We already summoned the top favorites in the men’s singles in this year’s US Open. ílet’s see now the players who can win the women’s singles title. Most fans and experts will focus on the pair of Barty and Osaka, who stand in the first and third places in the world ranking. Which makes sense as the Australian has been in superb form this season and won the last Grand Slam, the 2021 Wimbledon Championship. While Osaka has struggled since her victory in Melbourne back in February. But she has already won the US Open twice before. Sadly the 6-time US Open champion, Serena Williams won’t compete this time, just like her sister, Venus due to injuries. It is the first time since 2003 that both of them will miss the tournament along with another top American player, Sofia Kenin.

2021 US Open Women’s Winner Odds Favor Barty and Osaka

The current world No1, Ashleigh Barty won the 2021 Wimbledon Championship which was her second Grand Slam title. Apart from this win she also got the victory at the Miami and Stuttgart Open and reached the final in Madrid this season. After winning the bronze medal in mixed doubles in the Tokyo Olympics Barty seems to continue in top form. As she also won the Cincinnati Masters two weeks ago. No wonder that online sportsbooks in the US offer the smallest odds, +275.00 for her victory in New York. Where the Australian hasn’t got such good results yet. Her best performance has been reaching the 4th round both in 2018 and 2019.

Barty missed the event last season when Naomi Osaka won her second tournament title. The Japanese star has the odds of +450.00 in the 2021 US Open women’s winner odds to defend her title. But it won’t be an easy task especially due to her mixed results this season. The world No2 started the year on high after winning the 2021 Australian Open. But she withdrew from the French Open after the first round due to mental health issues. Osaka didn’t compete in Wimbledon either and missed much of the season. But she played in the Olympics where she was knocked out by Marketa Vondrousova in the third round. Now the 23-year-old star can return to winning on the court where she got her first GS-title in 2018.

Other Top-Form Players Can Also Cause Surprise

Unlike the men’s event, in the women’s competition, we can often see surprise winners. Like it happened in this year’s French Open where a Czech player, Barbora Krejcikova won the title.  It was only her third WTA Tour victory and the best result of her singles career so far. She also won the doubles title in Paris and the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics playing along with Katerina Siniakova. Now the world No9 can continue her successful season in New York, where she is the 8th seed. Her compatriot, current world No4 Karolina Pliskova also seems to be in great form. She played in the 2021 Wimbledon final but lost there against Barty. Pliskova also got to the final in the Canadian Open and to the last four in Cincinnati. Her odds to finally win her first Grand Slam title are +1400.00 on BetOnline.

Online gambling sites in the US also mention Aryna Sabalenka in the favorites and with the odds of +1000.00. The Belarusian player reached her first Grand Slam semi-final in this year’s Wimbledon. She also won the Abu Dhabi Open in January and the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid. While in doubles she became the champion in the Australian Open playing along Belgian Elise Mertens. Thanks to these great results Sabalenka reached the world No2 spot in the summer and has been seeded second in the US Open.
