Austrian Marco Schwarz leads the slalom overall standing and is in the favorites
The 2020-21 men’s FIS Alpine Ski World Cup will continue with the slalom race this Saturday in Kitzbuhel, Austria. Even though the race was removed from its original location of Wengen, organizers managed to find a great alternative for the slalom and downhill races. In the 2021 Kitzbuhel slalom odds Marco Schwarz is the top favorite but he faces strong competition from other slalom specialists.
In the original schedule of the 2020-21 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup the Swiss resort of Wengen would have hosted the next races in downhill and slalom. But due to safety measures, the race there was cancelled and moved to Kitzbuhel, in Austria. As it’s one of the most popular ski resorts, the athletes won’t be affected too much by the change. The resort will host this weekend the slalom race with the first event taking place on Saturday, 16th of January. The current overall leader of the slalom world cup, Marco Schwarz is in the top favorites, just like last year’s winner, Swiss Daniel Yule.
2021 Kitzbuhel slalom odds predict tight race between last year’s top finishers
Online sportsbooks in Austria offer the smallest odds, 6.00 for their local favorite, Marco Schwartz. The Austrian skier has won the previous slalom race in Adelboden last weekend and finished on the podium two more times. He is currently leading the overall slalom standing after four races out of 11. The 25-year-old can achieve his best result of his world cup career beside a second place in the 2019 overall combined world cup. Schwarz, who is also the bronze medalist from the 2019 world championship in slalom, finished second in Kitzbuhel last year.
One of his main rivals can be French Clement Noel, who was behind him in the 2020 race. The slalom specialist was the runner-up two times in a row in the overall slalom world cup and has won six races so far. He also finished 4th in the 2018 Winter Olympics in the discipline. But this season Noel hasn’t been in great form, his best result so far is a 5th-place finish from Madonna di Campiglio. Now his odds to get back to winning is also 6.00 on bet365 in the 2021 Kitzbuhel slalom odds.
Top skiers of the season are also in the favorites
German Linus Strasser is also mentioned by online gambling sites in Austria in the top favorites. He has the odds of 7.00 to win his second race of the season. He got his first victory in Zagreb and finished second in Adelboden. Strasser is also having his best season so far. As he is following Schwarz closely in second place in the slalom overall standing. He didn’t finish last year’s race in Kitzbuhel. So he needs to concentrate more if he wants to carry on with good results.
While last year’s winner, Daniel Yule has the odds of 10.00 to win again. The Swiss skier finished 3rd in the overall slalom world cup in 2019 and 2020. But he only reached two 7th-place finishes this season. So Yule has to improve significantly to get back to the top contestants. But he has a great opportunity to do so in Austria.
