Leclerc and Sainz are heading to their buildup season
2020 was definitely a year to forget for Ferrari, but a new campaign is coming ahead. F1 fans expect much better results from Ferrari in 2021. However, it remains to be seen how far they can go. According to 2021 F1 Ferrari odds, a title challenge is too ambitious but it is not far-fetched.
As online sportsbook news sites in Italy reported, Ferrari’s Leclerc and Vettel finished their last race at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 13th and 14th place respectively. No doubt it was one of their worst results ever. Besides their overall season was Ferrari’s worst since 1980.
Ferrari will be certainly looking to overturn its disastrous year in the upcoming campaign. The main objective of the team’s principal Mattia Binotto, and the young duo Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be to reclaim their speed. Their eyes will be fixed on matching up Mercedes and Red Bull.
The 2021 F1 Ferrari odds at Bet365 Sportsbook indicate Ferrari has a strong chance to finish third, while outright win values 13.00. In addition, Leclerc stands fifth with 29.00 odds to become the fastest driver in 2021, and Sainz is eighth at 67.00. The odds do not give high expectations, but there is a reason for that.
Binotto to settle for a third-place
Ferrari’s principal Mattia Binotto recently said his team’s minimum objective is to return to third place in Constructor’s Championship in 2021. The fans probably expected more than that, from a team that won 19 constructors’ titles. No team in F1 history came close to Ferrari’s success, Williams is the second with nine.
However, the last time Ferrari won a title was in 2007, and the last time it won a race was in Singapore in 2019. In 2020 the Italian marque finished sixth. To expect 2021 F1 Ferrari odds to put the team ahead of Mercedes and Red Bull after such a disappointing season, will not make sense. Thus, returning to a third-place as Binotto hopes can lead to something big later on.
Leclerc and Sainz head to a buildup season
The veteran and former champion Sebastian Vettel was just replaced by McLaren’s Carlos Sainz. Thus, Ferrari will have the youngest lineup since 1968. Leclerc, 23, and Sainz, 26, are looking to prove themselves.
Sainz took the Woking team to another level in 2020. They impressively clinched third place in the Constructors’ Championship. On the other hand, Leclerc failed to win a race in 2020 but he was a better version of himself compared to 2019. Certainly, the two young drivers have all that it takes to shock the online sportsbooks in Italy. Would you bet on Leclerc and Sainz to make a huge upset next year? We think it is possible, maybe by the second half of the season, when they start to truly complete one another.
