The 2021 British National Road Championships are held this weekend, between the 14th and 17th of October in Lincoln. The men’s race runs over 166km, with 13 laps around the city. Several top cyclists will compete in the event from Mark Cavendish to the 2019 winner Ben Swift. But the 2021 British road race odds favor Ineos rider Ethan Hayter to get the win this time.
Until 1996 two different British cycling championships were held, one for the amateurs and one for the professionals. Then it was united, marking the start of a new era. Where some of the biggest British cyclists have managed to win like Geraint Thomas, Bradley Wiggins, and Mark Cavendish. Ben Swift is the defending champion after the cancellation of last year’s event. He will try to win the race again along with his cousin, Connor Swift. This year Lincoln hold the British National Championships across four days. With the time-trial and circuit races being held ahead of the last events, the women’s and men’s road races. The course will also include Lincoln’s most famous climb of Michaelgate on the 12,6km lap with the men taking 13 laps in the 166km-length race.
2021 British Road Race Odds Mention Former Race Winners In The Favorites
The runner-up of the 2021 Tour of Britain, Ethan Hayter can continue his great season by winning the National Road Championship. With online sportsbooks in the UK favoring him to do so with the odds of 2.75. The Ineos rider also won this year’s Tour of Norway and finished second in the Volta ao Algarve. Due to a crash, he couldn’t race for the podium in the world championship but can get another great result now. Just like two years ago, in 2019 when Hayter won the National U-23 road race and finished second in the time trial.
One of his biggest rivals can be his teammate, Ben Swift, who is the defending British champion. The 33-year-old hasn’t got any win this season but finished third on the one-day race of the Grand Prix de Denain in France. The course can fit well his style of racing though, explaining his odds of 6.00 to win the race. His cousin, Connor Swift has also won the championship once, in 2018. He won two smaller events this season and finished seventh in the Tour of Belgium. The Arkea-Samsic rider’s odds are 8.00 to win again according to the 2021 British road race odds.
Cavendish and Young Talents Can Also Fight For The Title
Mark Cavendish was reborn this season after winning four stages at this year’s Tour de France. Making his total to 34 stage wins, equaling Eddy Merckx’s record for the most Tour de France stage victories. Cavendish won the green jersey with his superb performance at the age of 36. He also got stage wins in this year’s Tour of Turkey and Tour of Belgium. But he only finished 10th in the points classification in the 2021 Tour of Britain. Now the Quick-Step rider can get a better result in the National Championships which he won in 2013. Besides finishing second in 2015 when the race was last held in Lincoln.

Now online gambling sites in the UK offer the odds of 7.50 for his victory. We can find even better, I mean smaller odds (5.00) next to the name of Matthew Walls. The young Bora-Hansgrohe rider won the gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the men’s Omnium event. Plus the silver in Madison as a teammate of Hayter. He followed these successes with a stage win in the Tour of Norway and winning the Gran Piemonte last week. Making him a big favorite as well. While another young British rider, Jake Stewart can also fight for the victory this Sunday after finishing second in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad this year. His odds for the win are 11.00 on 22Bet.
