Ant and Dec can win their 19th award as Best TV Presenters
Viewers can vote for their favorite TV programs in 14 categories until the 28th of January when the show will be aired on ITV. The 2020 National Television Awards bets expect tight race in many categories, like Best Drama or Best Comedy. Let’s see the main favorites for the major titles.
This year the National Television Awards will be held for the 25th time, at the O2 Arena, with David Walliams as the host of the evening. He will make his debut this year following Dermot O’Leary’s steps, who has quit the job after 10 years. During the 2 and a half-hour show, the best British acts will be awarded from talent shows to drama series. Expect all the glimmer with famous actors and TV personalities lining up on the night, going wild in the after-party. Unfortunately, we can’t get you there but will show you now the favorites you can bet on. If you’re into films, also read our prediction about BAFTA.
2020 National Television Awards bets: Favorites in drama
One of the most prestigious awards is the Best Drama one, where world-famous series like Peaky Blinders and Killing Eve will compete with more Britain based ones like Call the midwife or Line of Duty. Online sportsbooks in the UK are predicting Peaky Blinders as winners, but Call the midwife has similar odds to win at 1xBet.
The two series are taking you back to the past with Peaky Blinders concentrating on a gang’s life after the First World War in Birmingham. Call the midwife is happening in the late 50s, early 60s, and is about a group of midwives working in East London. Even though their topics are quite different, both series try to picture a certain period of England, showing important social issues as well within the storyline. Of course, brilliant acting and memorable scenes are making them popular as well.
In the same category, we can also find one of the greatest shows of recent years with two amazing actresses, Killing Eve. The story of Russian assassin Villanelle (played by Jodie Comer) and British intelligence agent Eve (played by Sandra Oh) has brought a new color to spy thrillers. But as the second series hasn’t made such a big noise as the first one, its victory would be a bit of a surprise.
Fleabag can win Best Comedy according to 2020 National Television bets
A tight result is expected between the two favorites in the Best Comedy category, Fleabag, and Derry Girls. Fleabag was one of the biggest hits this year with its second season. The unique humor and style of the series, with several monologues and commentaries, are popular with the audience. Of course, lots of credit should go to the actress, Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Her play is superb as single Fleabag, who is trying to cope with everyday life. The series has already won the Best TV Comedy Series Awards at the Golden Globe, so no wonder the odds of its win is only 1.83.
Derry Girls is a teenager sitcom, taking place in 1990s Northern Ireland, so you can see more serious events, like bomb scares or marches, but the focus is on the teens and their biggest issues in love and friendship. Both series are on Netflix as well, so anyone can watch them outside the UK as well. And if you want to bet on your favorite, just visit 1xBet site.
Chernobyl is a clear favorite
Online gambling sites in the UK are predicting Chernobyl’s win in the Best New Drama category with the odds of only 1.17. But their thinking is reasonable as it was one of the best series of the year. It was retelling the catastrophe in such a powerful way, that anyone could feel the chill of it. The series has received 19 nominations at the Emmys, winning three of them. It has also won for Best Miniseries at the Golden Globe Awards.
Usual names in other categories
2020 National Television bets don’t expect too much surprise in other categories either, like Best Talent Show or Best TV Presenter. In the former, Strictly Come Dancing can win again, just like Ant and Dec can become best presenters for the 19th time. Yes, you read it correctly, they have already won it 18 times so far! Their pair just seems unbeatable even during scandals or hosting less famous shows. They face the same opponents this time as last year. From them, Good morning presenter Holly Willoughby has the best chance to get close to them. She has the odds of 3.24 to win.
BBC’s most glamorous program, Strictly Come Dancing can repeat last year’s success as well. With no X-factor as a nominee this year, the show is a top favorite. But in the Best TV Judge category, yes, they even honor them here, Britain’s Got Talent’s member David Walliams has the biggest chance for victory again. We can only hope he will be able to host the show and accept the award at the same time.
